Obama ascendant after trading primary wins with Clinton (4 more SD's today)
Source: AP

WASHINGTON (AP) — Barack Obama pocketed the support of at least four Democratic convention superdelegates on Wednesday, building on the momentum from a convincing North Carolina primary victory. Rival Hillary Rodham Clinton disclosed she had loaned her strapped campaign an additional $6.4 million in recent weeks.

Clinton showed no sign of surrender in the presidential race, but former Sen. George McGovern, the party's 1972 presidential candidate, urged her to reconsider.

Obama was at home in Chicago during the day as his aides spread word that he would soon begin campaigning in states likely to be pivotal in the fall campaign. Aides relayed word of the four endorsements, expected to be made public later in the day. Both disclosures were meant to signal fresh confidence that the nomination was quickly coming into his possession after a grueling marathon across 15 months and nearly all 50 states.

The former first lady campaigned in West Virginia, site of next week's primary, in a hastily arranged appearance meant to underscore her determination to stay the course. She also arranged a private meeting later in the day with uncommitted superdelegates.

5. He's gonna owe you and about 1.5 million other people
what a concept, a persident that owes something to the people instead of corporations. Not too long ago that was considered a pipe dream.

:toast:

Thanks for your donation, I wish I had some money for that but I'm saving it for the general election.

8. At this point, HRC should stay in the race, but drop negative intraparty ads
IMHO, the extended primary has been useful from the point of view of getting more states involved, bringing out more voters than usual, and exposing the general public to Democratic party politics. Now both candidates need to tone it down to make room for general election unity while allowing HRC a graceful exit that continues to pump interest levels in the remaining states. Hillary's been a determined opponent for Obama, and an early exposure of some of his weaknesses makes them harder for the GOP to exploit in the fall. She'll probably do well in WV and Kentucky, and can take that opportunity to bow out on a high note while firing some choice shots at McCain and calling for a unified Democratic effort.

That's the best-case scenario.
