Kay quits - Iraq did not have WMD
January 24, 2004

(07:14) The head of the American weapons inspection team in Iraq, David Kay, has resigned, saying he does not believe the country had any weapons of mass destruction.

Mr Kay said there was no evidence that Iraq possessed large stockpiles of chemical or biological weapons.

His comments are likely to embarrass President George W Bush, who again insisted earlier this week that Iraq had actively pursued dangerous arms programmes up to the start of the invasion last March.

Mr Kay said he did not think Iraq had been involved in large-scale production of such weapons since the end of the first Gulf War in 1991

2. Bush lied.
Lied US into his war/crusade, Tony Blair repeated the lie. All this blood is on them for starting the "permanent war" of PNAC.

I want to see it on one of the major news channels/sources too.

However, Kay is not telling us anything we didn't already know.

24. Proof-Positive that we've been lied to. Sure beats stains on a dress.
We need to pound this and pound this and pound this. This could open up a very nasty and large crack in the works for the bushies.

To be frank, I'm actually starting to feel as though we might win this thing. More and more shit is coming out. And if this IS on the front pages, it's a good start, and it's a good sign. Time was when this would have been buries somewhere on page 28. And as the Dem candidates start attracting more and more attention, I'm starting to believe that more Americans may start listening.

We have to reach critical mass with all the sins of the bushies, and I'm beginning to think it's actually happening. If this keeps up, we WILL reach critical mass. And once that's done, so is bush.

12. Never mind that Saddam had done absolutely nothing to anyone outside
his borders in twelve years and that he is just an old defanged leader. Also, never mind that the people of Iraq NEVER asked us to remove him. They only wanted sanctions lifted so they could get food and medicianes, which the US, the only country besides Israel, refused to do for years.

Two more words: Ponzi Scheme.

Whenever they spew that - but, but, but, but, you'd rather see Saddam back, push the BAIT N SWITCH button! Ask 'em - "Why was that never mentioned until now? Why was that not considered important until now?"

on edit -

And add - "That's NOT why they said we HAD to go to to war. That's NOT why they were in such a hurry to 'Bring em On.'"

It would be far more effective argument if our own damn candidates wouldn't stop endorsing Bush's policies vis-a-vis the removal of Saddam.

28. They were wrong about WMD's
They were wrong about 9-11
They were wrong about the economy
They were wrong about Afghanistan
They were wrong about the environment
They were wrong about Saddam
They were wrong about Osama

Have these maniacs done anything right? Here is the list of lies from Bu$h's 2003 State of the Union. Not one single reason for invading Iraq has turned out to be true, not one. This is either the most incompetent or the most criminal administration in history. Either way they are a danger to the security and well being of the entire nation and need to be removed from power now.

<snip>

Today, the gravest danger in the war on terror, the gravest danger facing America and the world, is outlaw regimes that seek and possess nuclear, chemical and biological weapons.

<snip>

Twelve years ago, Saddam Hussein faced the prospect of being the last casualty in a war he had started and lost. To spare himself, he agreed to disarm of all weapons of mass destruction.

For the next 12 years, he systematically violated that agreement. He pursued chemical, biological and nuclear weapons even while inspectors were in his country.

The United Nations concluded in 1999 that Saddam Hussein had biological weapons materials sufficient to produce over 25,000 liters of anthrax; enough doses to kill several million people. He hasn't accounted for that material. He has given no evidence that he has destroyed it.

The United Nations concluded that Saddam Hussein had materials sufficient to produce more than 38,000 liters of botulinum toxin; enough to subject millions of people to death by respiratory failure. He hasn't accounted for that material. He's given no evidence that he has destroyed it.

Our intelligence officials estimate that Saddam Hussein had the materials to produce as much as 500 tons of sarin, mustard and VX nerve agent. In such quantities, these chemical agents could also kill untold thousands. He's not accounted for these materials. He has given no evidence that he has destroyed them.

U.S. intelligence indicates that Saddam Hussein had upwards of 30,000 munitions capable of delivering chemical agents. Inspectors recently turned up 16 of them, despite Iraq's recent declaration denying their existence. Saddam Hussein has not accounted for the remaining 29,984 of these prohibited munitions. He has given no evidence that he has destroyed them.

From three Iraqi defectors we know that Iraq, in the late 1990s, had several mobile biological weapons labs. These are designed to produce germ warfare agents and can be moved from place to a place to evade inspectors. Saddam Hussein has not disclosed these facilities. He has given no evidence that he has destroyed them.

The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed in the 1990s that Saddam Hussein had an advanced nuclear weapons development program, had a design for a nuclear weapon and was working on five different methods of enriching uranium for a bomb.

The British government has learned that Saddam Hussein recently sought significant quantities of uranium from Africa.

Our intelligence sources tell us that he has attempted to purchase high-strength aluminum tubes suitable for nuclear weapons production.

Saddam Hussein has not credibly explained these activities. He clearly has much to hide.

The dictator of Iraq is not disarming. To the contrary, he is deceiving.

31. & Why Isn't This the HUGEST Story All Over the Media?
Just now on Faux, the wingnuts spun themselves silly. The NAPOLITANO judge dude was guesting a Col. David HUNT, who agreed that KAY said what he said AND that it was ALL TENET's and the intelligence community's fault. Forget that Shrub's absentee management dictum was to FIND A WAY to get whatever done and that CHENEE was busting spook balls to give him what HE WANTED to get. And our Dem candidates ought to be beating this drum if our crack investigative media don't.
