WASHINGTON, July 24 (Reuters) - U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld on Thursday defended his decision to release photographs of the bullet-torn bodies of Saddam Hussein's two sons, saying, "I'm glad I made it."

He said making the pictures public would help convince frightened Iraqis that Saddam's rule was over and that far outweighed any sensitivities over showing the corpses. snip

It don't really matter what any of us think about it -- we weren't the intended audience. Our cultural lense is much different then theirs.

In any case, from gleaning a few news items from middle east sources, it seems as if we really did have to "show the money" (or in this case the body).
