CIA Concludes New Tape Is Likely Saddam

Well, that just about means it wasn't him then with their record lately.

WASHINGTON - The CIA (news - web sites) has concluded that the voice on an audiotape that surfaced earlier this week urging Iraq (news - web sites)'s former soldiers to rise up against the United States is likely that of Saddam Hussein (news - web sites), a U.S. official said Thursday.

The technical analysis conducted by the CIA adds to a growing body of evidence that has led U.S. intelligence to suspect the Iraqi dictator survived the U.S.-led war that ousted him from power.

"Although it cannot be determined with absolute certainty, the CIA's assessment after a technical analysis of the tape is that it is likely Saddam Hussein's voice," said the official, who spoke only on condition of anonymity.

The speaker said the tape was made on July 20, two days before Hussein's sons Odai and Qusai were killed in a fierce attack on a villa belonging to a Saddam cousin in the northern city of Mosul.

If the 2 sons and grandson were really left to roam Iraq without much money, food, communication equipment, security... Then you'd have to be a pretty stupid person to believe Saddam is any better off! The tape is not Saddam. He wouldn't risk it.

2. Tenet is covering his butt.

It's clear that "the official, who spoke only on condition of anonymity" is doing so with the blessings if not under the open direction of Tenet. Tenet has obviously realized for a long time that the White House has been lying and denying. The White House has been impeding the CIA, attempting to obfuscate any record that the CIA's intelligence has been seen and gone deliberately undeeded, and deny that they've put pressure on the CIA to elevate specious and fraudulent 'intelligence' in direct contravention of the CIA's analytical responsibility. There is no honor among thieves.

3. Pentagon needs Saddam.

Him being still out there alive reinforces the need to stay on course. Since the WMD are a wild goose chase it seems they are just raising the volume now on capturing Saddam and his entourage.

It justifies the effort and the cause. No WMD No Saddam, aside from reconstruction and moving on with all the various business ventures, there is no reason to keep the boys there. Now that it looks like B&Co are gearing up for another staging, why bring them home, if staying their course can remain justified? Better to raise the volume on the deck or cards.

It looks like the CIA is beginning to redeem itself in light of this Niger issue, however, this could be coming out of that Office of Special Planning from a Rogue faction of the CIA. Who knows. All I know is without saddam without WMD... why the need to stay on course?
