BAGHDAD, April 14 (Reuters) - Twelve members of Iraq's Kurdish Peshmerga security force were killed and two wounded on Monday when a car bomb exploded as they were travelling in a truck in the country's north, police said.

The incident took place near the Syrian border. The Kurdish security force is part of the Iraqi army.

5. Bombings in northern Iraq kill 13 people
BAGHDAD - Iraqi officials say 13 people have been killed and nearly 20 wounded in two separate bombings in northern Iraq.

Police chief Col. Mutlaq al-Shimmari says a parked car bomb exploded as an Iraqi army convoy passed in the Rabiaa area west of Mosul. He says 10 soldiers died in that attack and seven were wounded.

Mayor Najim Abdullah says a suicide bomber also blew himself up during a funeral for a Shiite family, killing three people and wounding 10 others in the northern city of Tal Afar.

BAGHDAD, April 14 (Reuters) - A suicide attack and two car bombs killed up to 18 soldiers and civilians near Mosul in northern Iraq on Monday, police and local officials said.

Twelve members of Iraq's Kurdish Peshmerga security force, which are part of the Iraqi army, were killed and two wounded when a car bomb exploded as they were travelling in a truck in the north near the Syrian border, police said.

In Tal Afar, west of Mosul, an attacker wearing a suicide vest blew himself up at a Shi'ite funeral, killing four civilians and wounding 22, according to the local mayor. The U.S. military said the attack had killed 3 and wounded 35.

Earlier in the day, a car bomb detonated in Mosul, killing two civilians and wounding six, police said.

I was fortunate that my friend Kenji, any Army Staff Sargent, survived a tour of duty at an ammo depot in Tikrit, Iraq. I was so glad when he finally came home in one piece. He, unlike the unfortunate Iraqi soldiers and citizens who were killed today, was very, very lucky.

We must turn out in numbers so great that the GOP can't steal this election. The vote cannot be close.

Senator Obama wants us to get out of Iraq.
