Willamina city leaders considering an 'illegal alien-free zone'
Source: KATU

WILLAMINA, Ore. - City leaders in this small timber town are considering a city ordinance that would create what would be called an 'illegal alien-free zone.'

The ordinance would allow any law enforcement officials, within the town's city limits, to stop anyone and ask for proof of citizenship.

Any illegal immigrants caught within the city limits would face deportation, if federal law enforcement cooperates.

Critics fear the ordinance would lead to racial profiling since it would allow law enforcement to stop anyone for any reason to verify their citizenship.

2. Achtung! Your papers!
Perhaps they could identify those thought to be illegals with some sort of clothing patch, just to make it easier for the police...

4. Scary stuff people come up with sometimes.
Of course it will lead to racial profiling. Heaven forbid they go after the anglos. You'll have your Bill Maher types complaining that anglo-looking people should never be indisposed by the ordinance because they don't look foreign.

6. And, what's bizarre, though not surprising, is that these are also
the sort of people who obsessively call others "unAmerican."

7. If Willamina police ain't got enuf t'do, here is some idears I ripped from th'headlines:
Why not allow law enforcement officials to stop anyone carrying tools within the town's city limits and ask for proof the tools weren't stolen?

Why not allow law enforcement officials to stop anyone carrying babies within the town's city limits and ask for proof the babies weren't bought from an internet site?

Why not allow law enforcement officials to stop anyone without a dog within the town's city limits and ask for proof the person didn't kill their dog with a bow and arrow?

Why not allow law enforcement officials to stop anyone carrying ID within the town's city limits and ask for proof the person isn't a meth addict?

Why not allow law enforcement officials to stop any daycare worker within the town's city limits and ask for proof the person doesn't break babies' arms?

Why not allow law enforcement officials to stop any dentist within the town's city limits and ask for proof the person doesn't know anyone who molests sedated patients?

8. There is an easy solution to this.
Create a constant stream of LEGAL immigrants into the town to overwhelm the police, to the point they don't get any other work done.

I suggest hundreds of Mexican-Americans dress-up like they're in a mariachi band, with great big sombreros, and run around town doing the tequila dance.

After a few days of this, one of two things will happen:

1) The police and town-folk will tire of the foolishness.
2) Word will get out that the police are overwhelmed with immigration checks, and house burglars from nearby towns will have a field day.

10. Bravo. That's an excellent Alinsky-type idea
He was very good at tactics that would make fools of authorities by enmeshing them in their own ropes

9. They might change their tune when the get the brunt of the impact
on their local economy! Remember when the fruit growers in California/Oregon/Washington couldn't get migrant labor because of the crack down at the border? The fruit rotted in huge amounts.

13. Why would ANYONE now want to go near that town?
Let it stay slumbering in the dark ages. I can't see why anyone would want to set foot in it, illegal aliens or otherwise.
