Daily CitizenLITTLE ROCK - A former Arkansas lawmaker who resigned to settle a felony sexual assault charge involving a teenage girl was the only candidate to file for a House seat and will return to the Legislature next year unless a write-in or third party candidate runs against him.
The head of the state Democratic Party said he was actively seeking someone to run against former Rep. Dwayne Dobbins, D-North Little Rock, who filed candidacy papers just before Arkansas' campaign filing season closed at noon Monday.

House District 39 is currently represented by Dobbins' wife, Sharon, who won the seat in a special election after her husband's 2005 resignation. She did not file papers seeking re-election. No Republican sought the post either.
In 2005, Dwayne Dobbins resigned and pleaded guilty to misdemeanor harassment in a plea bargain reached after the representative was arrested on a felony sexual assault charge. According to prosecutors, Dobbins had fondled a 17-year-old girl at his home.
