Stolen files? FBI seals city complex
BY OSCAR CORRAL

The FBI sealed off the second floor of the City of Miami's administrative building for about four hours Wednesday after reports that a city employee might have tried to sneak out documents that have been subpoenaed by federal investigators.

Last week, the U.S. attorney's office subpoenaed stacks of financial documents, housing contracts, bank records and more from the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA), the city's finance department and the Department of Community Development, which disburses federal grant money for the city.

The subpoenas are part of a broadening criminal investigation into the CRA and city departments that receive federal or state money.

At about 10 a.m. Wednesday, two FBI agents showed up at the city's Department of Community Development, which is on the second floor of the Miami Riverside Center on Southwest Second Avenue. Another two or three agents showed up later and sealed off the second floor, taking posts near the elevator and in the hallways, city sources said. (snip/...)
