PRESIDENT Olusegun Obasanjo yesterday re-echoed with sadness the sabotage unleashed on the nation through the vandalisation of oil facilities and bunkering.
Obasanjo first intimated Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting where he swore-in the Special Adviser on Cultural Affairs and Traditional Matters, Prof. Wande Abimbola, on the deplorable situation. Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mr Chukwuemeka Chikelu, who briefed State House Correspondents, said that: "Over N6 billion has been lost to vandalisation of oil facilities and bunkering this year alone. He added that the FEC has now decided to take every step to inform Nigerians of the menace, the impact of the damage and to solicit the support of Nigerians in tackling the problem.
"The Federal Government has decided to reach out to various segments of the society including traditional rulers, church leaders, community leaders, political parties, labour and diplomatic missions. These groups will be reached out to," he added. But if the sensitisation efforts fail, Chikelu said, other options will be activated by government.

If I did my math correct that's US$45,500,000. That's about how much The Bush Crime Family makes in a day.
Joking aside. That's a lot of damage! Why are Nigeria citizens doing this? Don't see that addressed in the report.
PS. How old do you think that soldier is on the Homepage? 11 or 12?
