Bush acknowledges economic uncertainty
Source: Yahoo News

WASHINGTON - President Bush, acknowledging that the country is suffering through a period of economic uncertainty, called on Congress Monday to do more to help people and businesses hurt by the housing slump and credit crunch.

In a brief introduction to his annual economic report, Bush said the $168 billion economic rescue package passed by Congress last week will keep "our economy growing and our people working."

Bush is expected later this week to sign the stimulus package, which includes rebates of $600 to $1,200 to most taxpayers and $300 checks to disabled veterans, the elderly and other low-income people.

"Money will be going directly to America — workers and families and individuals," he told reporters. "It's going to help deal with the uncertainties in this economy."

1. He sits there with egg on his face. A criminal trying to appease
the people with a little money. We can't be "bought off. I say impeach him. He's run this country to the ground with his immoral and illegal war. And now expects us to take his "oops".

3. He's just treading water until it's time to replenish the ol' coffers...
Bush's great ambition: wealthy boredom

· President tells of regrets in office and retirement plans
· Dead Certain author given rare vision of private life

Ed Pilkington in New York
The Guardian,
Monday September 3 2007

Jimmy Carter has dedicated his life after the White House to conflict resolution around the world. Presidents George Bush the elder and Bill Clinton have campaigned together on behalf of communities devastated by Hurricane Katrina. So how does President George Bush junior imagine spending his retirement years?

"I can just envision getting in the car, getting bored, going down to the ranch," he says. He also has big plans for making money. "I'll give some speeches, to replenish the ol' coffers," says Mr Bush, who is already estimated to be worth $20m. "I don't know what my dad gets - it's more than 50-75 , and "Clinton's making a lot of money".

The insights into Mr Bush's ambitions once he steps down from the most powerful job on Earth in January 2009 are contained in a series of interviews he gave to a journalist from GQ magazine. It may be that the writer, Robert Draper, comes from Texas, like his subject, but whatever the reason, Mr Bush has chosen to be singularly open with the author and provide a rare glimpse into the inner life of a very private president.

During the course of six one-hour interviews, Mr Bush, feet up on his desk, munching on low-fat hotdogs, tells Draper of the loneliness of the US commander-in-chief. "Self-pity is the worst thing that can happen to a presidency. This is a job where you can have a lot of self-pity," Mr Bush says.

When it all gets too much for the president, his wife Laura storms to the rescue. "She reminds me that I decided to do this," he tells Draper.

10. He's more likely to run off to Paraguay where his crimes won't be tried.
Maybe he's talking about the ranch over there.

12. As if anyone but dumbass backwashers would pay to hear him speak
He won't have as much control over the protesters at his speeches once he leaves office, either. (Say goodbye to "free speech zones", Dubya!) If he ever does decide to go into that line of work once he's an ex-President I hope vocal protesters dog his steps for the rest of his miserable life. It's not enough of a payback for what a disaster he's been as President, but at least it's something.

2. That oaf actually thinks a few hundred bucks will make a big
difference to most families in this country who are facing foreclosure, offshoring, or worse, medical bills. The truth is that most folks will use it to stock up on staple foods and pay off heating bills and other bills that have gone into arrears.

Nobody's going on a spree, Stupid. Your economy has made that impossible.

4. "Called on Congress" after refusing to help the unemployed, the elderly, and low-income.
What a piece of work. Calls on Congress to do a job they already did.

Can I scream already?

5. WoW! He did it again...failed! But this time he took down the biggest economy on the planet,
destroyed the same country's military and played the fool in every capitol he visited. At least prior to stealing the presidency he never left the country; that was something to be grateful for...the Ugly American in spades.

7. There's Nothing Uncertain About It!
Michigan fell 10 places among the states in per capita income to 26th between 2000 and 2006 - the latest available year - as it shed thousands of manufacturing jobs, according to the Michigan Future study.

The state's per capita income was 8 percent below the national average in 2006, the worst performance since the Great Depression year of 1933, according to figures for the study prepared by University of Michigan economist Don Grimes.

Michigan also has the highest unemployment rate in the country at 7.6 percent. But per capita income is an even more important measure of economic security, the Michigan Future study says.

"There are lots of areas across the country with low unemployment, but low incomes. That isn't success to us," said Lou Glazer, president of Michigan Future, an Ann Arbor-based think tank.

9. no it wont, Mr Bush.
Here's what would help:

1) Get out of Iraq, and re-invest all that money in renewable energy development, smarter vehicles, eco-friendly designs, a public railway system that matches those in Japan and Europe, infrastructure investment to repair our national infrastructure, a better education system, more scholarship money for our college, reduced tuition, and national, government-run, single-payer universal health care.

Don't tell me it costs too much, because YOU proved you're willing to spend a TRILLION dollars on a fucking wasteful war!

This we know for a fact. The facts speak for themselves. And when the facts show that in uncertain times that there may be unknowns, we strive to find the knows to these unknowns during uncertain times."

He knows this recession will be named after him. Not even his buddies in the MSM will be able to forestall that for much longer.
