ExxonMobil spills $400,000 worth of gasoline
Source: The Enterprise, a Hearst publication

A spill of more than 3,300 barrels of refined gasoline occurred Sunday at the ExxonMobil Beaumont refinery, an official with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality said today.

Georgie Volz, regional manager of the state environmental agency's Beaumont office, said the spill occurred at 10:50 a.m. Sunday within the refinery, but an internal response crew put foam on the product, which was contained and did not go off-site.

The spill amounted to 3,341 barrels, which - at 42 gallons per barrel - equals 140,332 gallons.

At an average of $2.85 per gallon at the retail pump, that's almost $400,000 worth of gasoline spilled onto the ground.

1. EXXON\Mobile and their inability to stop spills
That's one other way to increase the cost of oil. Make it scarce. We should put them out of our country. They've destroyed enough of our land. The spill couldn't be stopped?

In Alaska they still haven't paid the damaged people money. They are a criminal corporation. Their CEOs on CSPAN before Congress were arrogant and Mafia looking.

5. It's okay, it was only our CHEAP gasoline.
Fortunately, they have saved all the expensive gasoline.
They will just add the price of this spilled gasoline to the expensive gasoline's price.
Not to fear.

9. Because if they didn't the price of gas would go up.
Duh! Everyone knows that by not paying those taxes - which would help to decrease our ballooning national dept - the big oil companies are able to pass those savings down the the little man.

The fact that they just happen to be enjoying record profits is simply due to the fact that Americans are driving so much because of the cheap gas that the tax breaks make possible.

Really. It's true. I saw it all explained on FOX News.
