Lawsuit claims 3 leaked name in anthrax case

Lawyers for Steven Hatfill, cited as 'a person of interest' in
the investigation but not charged with a crime, say the federal
officials gave damaging information about their client.

By David Willman,
Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
1:34 PM PST, January 11, 2008

WASHINGTON--Lawyers for the former Army physician who was
called "a person of interest" in the deadly anthrax mailings in
the fall of 2001 today named three federal officials who they
said illegally leaked confidential investigative information
against their client.

Steven J. Hatfill, who has not been charged with a crime and
maintains his innocence, is suing the FBI, the Justice Department
and a handful of current or former law-enforcement officials.
Hatfill is alleging that the leaks damaged his reputation and
violated his right to privacy.

"We have identified three of the leakers who were previously
anonymous," said Mark A. Grannis, one of Hatfill's lawyers, near
the outset of a sparsely attended hearing in federal court. "Some
of the most damaging information leaked in this case (came)
straight out of the U.S. attorney's office."

Hatfill's lawyers alleged that the three officials who leaked
investigative details to the news media were Roscoe C. Howard Jr.,
who from 2001 to 2004 served as U.S. attorney for District of
Columbia; Daniel S. Seikaly, who served as Howard's criminal
division chief; and Edwin Cogswell, who formerly served as a
spokesman for the FBI.

1. Stop the leakers
while the masterminds of the Antrax attacks still occupy the White House.

Bizarro world.

3. still in the white house
while the US labs which were the only ones which could have created the anthrax with such a high spore count has been destroyed, the lab files have been destroyed and the culprits are twiddling their thumbs whistling. Such a horrible case about the wh bullying our representatives into submission and it has been whitewashed and forgotten about. Even though it has ugly little fingerprints all over it nothing will be done with it.

5. He died.
He died young. The "media" fucked him over even worse than the FBI did. If the window blind at his house had a little crack some asshole would shove a camera in there just to see what footage they could grab. They harrassed the poor guy's mom all the way to her grave. The man, nor his family, could even use a restroom without some jerk sticking a camera in their faces.

I'm all in favor of a free press, but the "paparazzi" is nothing short of a bunch of damn stalkers - and I seriously wish something would be done about that.

Anyways, God bless you Richard.

But wait. It gets better.

Hatfill Ex-Colleague Gets FBI Job

Analyst Gave Details on 'Person of Interest' in Anthrax Probe

The FBI has hired a former colleague of Steven J. Hatfill who provided the bureau with information about him for its long-running anthrax investigation, an unusual move that some experts said could pose an appearance of conflict of interest if the government tries to use the employee as a prosecution witness.

An FBI spokesman said the recent hiring of Glenn Cross as a full-time counterterrorism analyst based at FBI headquarters is "not related to the anthrax case" and would not prevent him from testifying before a grand jury or in a court proceeding.

Although Justice Department guidelines permit the FBI to make cash payments to confidential informants, lawyers say it is unusual for the FBI to give a full-time government position to a person who has worked with the bureau in developing a criminal investigation.

Such a relationship "blurs the distinction as to what this person is," said criminal defense lawyer Abbe D. Lowell, "and you never want to blur the purity of your witnesses."

Nothing to see here. Move along.

8. Anthrax perp(s) considered enemy combatant(s)?
Gitmoizable perp(s) or plain perp(s)?

If there is only one perp and they are a citizen that is still treason, right? If there are more than one that are citizens is that more than treason, or war?

The FBI lost wiretaps because they didn't pay their phone bills. It might be a lot to expect them (or any other law enforcement) to make any meaningful progress in the detention and prosecution of the anthrax perp(s).

9. Bad news
Sorry to inform you folks that are so ready to compare Steven Hatfill to Richard Jewel. Because Steven Hatfill is guilty as hell. I have physical evidence to back this up. Funny thing though the FBI told me they would send an agent out to my house. That was over 7 years ago. I'm still waiting and I still have the evidence.

Really interesting fact: If you tell the police or the FBI that you have Anthrax from the 2001 mailings in your possession they could not be less interested. But if you tell them you have some cocaine in your house they will beat down your door. Kinda like the FBI does not really want to solve this case and leaking was a way for them to pay Hatfill for a job so poorly done that a backwoods redneck like myself was able to identify him as the culprit and how he targeted not only myself but also Ottilie Lundgren and Cathy Nguyen.

10. Well that settles it for me
I mean, if you can't believe the anonymous word of someone on the internet making unverifiable assertions, why, you might as well say there is no Santa Claus!

I have no idea whether Hatfill is innocent, guilty or the man in the moon. But it is curious that the worst terrorist attack on U.S. soil since . . . well, September 11, continues to be completely ignored by the corrupt Bush administration and its mouthpieces in the popular media.

15. So it's true in the real life outside of Internetland, where you're asserting it.
Sounds like a job for Seymour Hersh. Why don't you give Vanity Fair a ring about your proof?
