Top Giuliani staffers to go without pay
Source: CNN

MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina (CNN) — CNN has learned that top staff members of Rudy Giuliani's presidential campaign were asked to work without pay for the month of January, and perhaps longer, so that campaign resources could be focused on the Florida Republican presidential primary.

Two sources in the campaign, speaking on condition of anonymity, insisted the campaign was not in dire financial straits. A third campaign source, however, said "things are starting to get tight" and that "it was more telling than asking" the senior staff to forgo paychecks beginning the first of the year.

Another source disagreed, saying it was a "voluntary" move by senior staff members "so all of our resources could be targeted toward Florida…Our campaign is not living hand to mouth right now…"

4. Rudy should at the very least pay them a symbolic
NINE dollars ELEVEN cents per day.

(That's affordable and will send a message to the terrorists, errrrr, something.)

9. Oh come on
Do you think Rudy would politicize September 11 so crassly? After all, he starts every work day at 9:11 a.m. sharp. His stump speech lasts for a full nine minutes and 11 seconds. His favorite sound bite lasts precisely 9.11 seconds. But paying his staff $9.11 per day? That would be just too opportunistic. And cost money.

8. Agreed. He has millions. That is just shameful.
He made 14 million dollars off his 9-11 speaking fees alone.

17. can't actually
once he accepted funds from outside his immediate family, he is limited to making the same $3,000 donation as every other person. he could 'loan' his campaign money, of course.

19. thank you, learn something new every day
so now the question is Mittens is funding a lot of his own campaign,
Lamont funded a lot of his own campaign
Doesn't Rudy think he's good enough for the job?

21. Mittens and Lamont
are much, much richer than Ghouls. Guiliani has liquid assets of probably 10 million, max. Mittens and Lamont are in the several hundred million category.

11. Reporters Want to Spend Jan. in Florida With Rudy
I heard one commentator say that Rudy is likely to get a great deal of press coverage because all of the reporters want to spend the month of January with him in Florida. That beats covering Romney in Michigan.

23. This fits my theory
that the closer it is to a big city with nice weather and good restaurants the more press attention the story gets.

I lived in Michigan many years ago, and the weather was brutal - and I grew up in the Northeast! So I can see the desire to be somewhere else in January.

Of course, the press and candidates could spend some time in one of those warmer states set to vote the week after Florida, like New Mexico, or Georgia, or that big one on the coast...
