Bush ends first Israel, West Bank visit in footsteps of Jesus

by Laurent Lozano Thu Jan 10, 10:59 PM ET

JERUSALEM (AFP) - US President George W. Bush was set on Friday to follow up his two-day peacemaking mission in Israel and the West Bank with a Holy Land pilgrimage in the footsteps of Jesus Christ.

Also before heading off for Kuwait, he was set to meet with former British prime minister Tony Blair, now the special envoy for the diplomatic quartet working for Middle East peace, and visit the Yad Vashem memorial on the Holocast.

On Thursday, the US president predicted on an optimistic note the signing of a Middle East peace treaty within a year and called for an end to Israel's four-decade occupation of Palestinian land.

Giving an assessment of his talks with Israeli and Palestinian leaders over the previous two days, he said it was time for both to make "difficult choices" for peace to become a reality and allow the creation of a Palestinian state.

3. I get nervous with Bush over there...
Edited on Fri Jan-11-08 02:25 AM by TwoSparkles
I worry that Darth Cheney has something planned for the unsuspecting Junior.

Sorry, I realize that is tin-foiley.

The neocons are a very troubled bunch though.

They'll get their war with Iran, one way or another.

Furthermore, one certain Dem candidate--who has banked so much on being pro-war--would not
go out on a limb without assurances that this election would be about "terror", and that
certain unpopular votes would be viewed as prescient and wise at a later date.

Cynical--I know.

25.  all this talk about him being "an emotional pResident Bush"
being reported on the radio, means nothing to this guy, cause when he comes back to DC he wants his permanent tax cuts for the rich. The guy is just disgusting and such a hypocrite and coward. He's like a grade school boy going on field trip do you think he really appreciates anything about preserving life instead of taking it away.

We need to fly a team of Mayans into the Holy Land and perform a re-sanctification ceremony.
