Protesters ask Clinton to iron shirts
Source: Associated Press

SALEM, N.H. - Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign stop was interrupted on Monday when two men stood in the crowd and began screaming, "Iron my shirt!" during one the New York senator's final appearances before New Hampshire voters cast primary ballots Tuesday.

Clinton, a former first lady running to become the nation's first female president, laughed at the seemingly sexist protest that suggested a woman's place is doing the laundry and not running the country.

"Ah, the remnants of sexism — alive and well," Clinton said to applause in a school auditorium.

The two men were removed from the hall after raising a pair of signs that said, "iron my shirt!" They also shouted the same slogan.

What a couple of louts. Now those are the kind of people who should be removed from these events.

54. Is America ready for a black president, or a woman president?
I am ready for either, but are either actually electable? In a country that was naive enough to wind up with Bush twice. I wonder which of the top three candidates has the best chance to win against a smear campaign like the 'swift boaters' will run. I wonder how much corporate money is flowing in to the candidate that corporate America thinks a Repug has the best chance to beat.

59. It's not even original
There was a guy who held up an "iron my shirt" sign when women protested outside the Augusta National Golf Club years ago. They were protesting because the home of the Masters golf tournament doesn't allow women members. I'm sure you can find the photo on the internet. It was mildly amusing at the time but this time it's akin to one comedian stealing a line from another. It loses what sense of humor there was in the original.

Just googling.... from Urban Dictionary, a dictionary of slang & catch-phrases.

"Iron My Shirt, Bitch" 369 up, 25 down

A banner best held up at a Feminist rally.

"Women are People, Too!" - Banner
"Men are Pigs!" - Banner
"Iron My Shirt, Bitch!" - Banner near the back

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=iron+my+shirt%2C+bitch&i=1

Note the similarity of the signs - both big, orange, & with the same slogan.

My Nan taught me to iron when I was 10 and I used to iron my Dads khaki Navy uniforms. Nobody and I mean nobody presses a pair of pants like me. Those suckers can stand up without a pair of legs in 'em. That said those two asscarrots would have had my industrial Italian made iron smashed into their ignorant back sides if they talked to me like that. If Hillary had been quick on her feet she would have retorted "I'm in the business of ironing out the problems of this country not your shirts."

30. PLANT. Clinton needs to recapture female vote, so he has a ringer rile up the anti-sexism vote.
Edited on Mon Jan-07-08 10:28 PM by NoodleyAppendage
She loads her early campaign stops with rigged questions, so now when she's on the ropes and the female vote is moving away from her, they have faux hecklers bring up a topic that they've calculated will piss off females and bring them back to her. Nice try, but no dice. A prime example of why people are sick of Clinton.

The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. This is all we have to go on right now. It's not my fault her campaign was caught red-handed planting audience questions. So, if she would go that far, why is it out-of-bounds to think that this very timely and topical heckler was also a plant?

67. Radio staion stunt.

" Fake "Iron my Shirt" protesters at Hillary rally identified - they are not Clinton plants, they work for radio shock jocks in Boston

Something seemed strange about the 2 protesters at the Hillary Clinton campaign rally Monday. They both held up identical "Iron my Shirt" signs and their chants seemed "too sexist" to be sincere. They cooperated nicely when security escorted them out of the auditoium. The above picture shows one of the protesters being escorted out. Fom the smile on his face he seemed to be enjoying the experience. Some speculated this was a possible Clinton plant. After this picture was posted on the internet a commenter at BobKrumm.com identified him as Adolfo Gonzalez from the "Toucher and Rich" radio show at WBCN in Boston. Below is a photo from the station's web site.

Adolpho Gonzalez is at the far left. The other protester was identified as a special needs student known as Nick Gemelli (“Intern Nick”). More at BobKrumm.com (scroll for updates). So it was all a stunt by a couple of low-level staffers from a rock station in Boston. Evidently Toucher and Rich have a history of obnoxious stunts. From looking at the station web site, Adolfo and "intern Nick" may be mentally slow, and I get the idea they are the regular brunt of mean jokes from the jockeys, Toucher and Rich. Any doubt the hosts dared Adolpho and Nick to disrupt the rally? Hopefully Toucher and Rich will be fired Tuesday"

69. Macy in Pleasantville - "Where's My Dinner"
My favorite movie is Pleasantville. It is about an alternate world based on 1950s television where the population gradually evolves and becomes more worldly. The wife goes off to find her calling in life, and the husband (William Macy) sits down at the kitchen table and can't believe his dinner is not sitting there waiting for him.

75. Oh come on!, the way this country chooses a President is ridiculous! A Billion Dollar Disaster!
Edited on Tue Jan-08-08 11:47 AM by demo dutch
bashing a woman is ok, but for an idiot to, for example, ask Obama to shine his shoes is politically incorrect. You can't get away from it, if it's Obama, a segment of our population will react that way. As far as I'm concerned it's all crap! The whole country needs to grow up!

76. The boys should have been holding a sign that said "Change my diaper"!
because let's face it; guys like that don't need wives, they need "mommies" to take care of them because they're SO incompetent that they could never iron a shirt themselves! Pathetic.
