Perfumes and colognes are the latest hot counterfeit items for New York street peddlers, but there are also fake DVDs, watches, clothing and bags that can be purchased at a fraction of the cost.


These great prices may also lure consumers in stores as well.

In fact, Sam's Club is settling a class-action lawsuit for selling counterfeit Prada items. It also settled a lawsuit by Fendi.

Sam's Club said it has stopped doing business with the suppliers of those products.

Online, many may be fooled by the big discounts on supposedly authentic items. It's a very profitable scam, according to trademark attorney Harley Lewin.

"It is more profitable than narcotics," Lewin said.

I never understood designer bags. I LOVE bags -- tote bags, handbags, backpacks, messenger bags -- I have lots of them. But they're CHEAP ones.
