US soldier killed in Baghdad
ONE US soldier was killed and two were wounded today in a roadside bombing in the Iraqi capital, the US command said.

It was the first reported combat death among US troops in Iraq since Friday when nine soldiers were killed when a medevac helicopter was shot down near Fallujah.
The latest casualties were from the 1st Armoured Division, the command said.

US officials say there have been an average of 17 attacks a day against US troops in the past week, down from more than 30 before Saddam Hussein was captured on December 13.

1. The numbers are fuzzy
kinda like republican math, DOD said over the weekend that the toll stood at 504. Lunaville had it at 495 this morning, with this addition make it 496 or 506.

With the football season winding down, and the weather still too nasty to get out, maybe people will start noticing what the hell has been going on for the past ten months.

6. Does the 506 include the 100
killled in Afghanistan. I'm not sure of anything anymore and it's like these deaths are not reported in a timely (as if there is such a thing) manner. I'm so afraid our military is just being shoved out of sight, out of mind and the killing goes on and on.

3. A Total of 17 in January 2004
see the lunaville site tabulations:

http://lunaville.org/warcasualties/SumDetails.aspx?hndRef=1-2004

http://lunaville.org/warcasualties/Summary.aspx

altogether 20 soldiers killed if you include the 3 British soldiers.

The slaughter goes on and on. Have we had enough yet America?

4. No, America doesn't care,
not about these soldiers. If there is a draft, maybe the citizens will muster enough gumption to be concerned, maybe. But Americans could give a shit about the "all volunteer" army, because "they chose this job". I hear people all the time tsk-tsking about the deaths in Iraq, but at bottom, they don't give a damn.
