Congress has been stymied by Bush, Republicans
Source: Yahoo News

By Richard Cowan and Thomas Ferraro 27 minutes ago

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush wants it known the U.S. Congress has been asleep at the switch since Democrats took over in January. The only problem is that he and his fellow Republicans have flipped off the switch at nearly every turn, Democrats say.

"The end of 2007 is approaching fast and the new Congress has little to show for it," Bush told reporters in the White House Rose Garden last week.

Rep. John Boehner of Ohio, the Republican leader in the House of Representatives, was even less generous. "Nothing has been accomplished all year," he said.

As they excoriate political opponents, Bush and his fellow Republicans in Congress have successfully stopped most major Democratic initiatives this year.

5. Yeah, but...
the people who control the voting machines aren't likely to want more Democrats.

6. They couldn't overcome our turnout in '06

But then again, it did take them by surprise. They will no doubt be even more vigilant this time.

8. Bushie control over our "elections" grows with each "election"
Every time it comes up and they get away with it, like those 4 crooked Buhsie-fixed Congressional Races (that, I might add, the Democrats helped to kill the investigation....AAARRRGHHHH!), they grow stronger.

Also, I am not so sure it took them by surprise as much as you think.

To try to discuss things with regular Imperial Amerikan Subjects, that we talk about here is almost impossible. You have to give most people a two-hour lecture on 11th grade civics (to paraphrase Naomi Wolf) and tell them at least half a dozen items which are forbidden to be discussed on the MSM (though they are usually printed or shown briefly in some back-corner, then neevr seen again...this provides the Bushies with the Plausible Deniability they require fo rt heir felonies) before you can even get to the starting point.

However, I remember when discussing the 2006 "election" with my skeptical friends, even they agreed that if the Bushies were that audacious, they would believe me about the troubles with our voting system.

How many millions of people who are so close but still do not want to see what is going on, fell into that category.

How many White Men, which are the only people who count to the Bushies, would have now viewed our voting system with skepticism forever had the Bushies done a Full Theft of 2006?

I don't know if this is true, maybe it was just simple matter of catching the Bushies by surprise (if so, they saved themselves inthe long run, because now most are back asleep about our privatized voting).

But the more I think about it, the more I realize that an audacious FULL theft of 2006, even if they could do it, might have been the one "Hitler Moment" that would have shocked people into wakefulness.

Anyway, I believe the Bushies, at this point and with no serious opposition from the Democratc Leadership, do have a great deal of control over the voting, more each timethey get away with it in broad daylight, and I am sure they add several new minority voter suppression tactics each go-round.

12. I think that 2006...
was done to make us complacent. We should have had a real majority in the senate, judging by the exit poles. As you say, people would have really flipped if the repugs held congress. Look at the situation now, Lieberman and one or two others give the repugs the majority except in name, and there are plenty of Democrats who don't want to die from anthrax or plane crashes. When Hillary or Obama get the nomination next year, the "plausible" denial that will be all over the media will be that too many white males are racist or sexist. The corporate media wants America to believe that, rather than have us thinking that we have no say in government.

3. well maybe IMPEACHMENT should be put on the table
to get rid of the obstructionists who keep on stopping Legislation that needs to get to the floor.

And of course the repigs were going to do everything in their power to thwart the Dems on everything, they forget extremely fast how when they (repigs) were in power they kept on giving this jerk more and more power. It's disgusting. And now we are paying for their oppressive ways. Damn them all, wake up America. Damn them for not impeaching these SOB's!!!
