Veto of Spending Bill Is Threatened
Source: WaPo

By SHERYL GAY STOLBERG
Published: December 9, 2007
WASHINGTON, Dec. 8 — The White House budget director warned on Saturday that President Bush was prepared to veto a $500 billion catchall spending bill that Congressional Democrats are assembling to pay for government operations and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The warning from Jim Nussle, the director of the Office of Management and Budget, amounted to a pre-emptive strike in a battle over federal spending that is growing increasingly intense.

Mr. Bush has already vetoed one spending measure, and twice this week he used his presidential platform — once in the Rose Garden and once at a news conference — to criticize lawmakers for failing to send him appropriations bills.

Democrats said Friday that they were working on a package to resolve their longstanding impasse with Mr. Bush by providing him with unfettered money for the war in exchange for more domestic spending.

1. Tell Veto-Boy to bring it on. Then go into gear pointing out who the obstructionist is.
This bush shit 'my way or the (veto) highway' has to stop NOW. HE is not the sole power in government and Congress needs to stand up for that rather important principle.

Oh, and arrest Harriet for inherent contempt, toss her scrawny ass in a cell and see who else wants to defy Congress.

2. Send him the bill congress wants,
If he vetoes it, so be it. The people are not going to hold the congress responsible any longer for * stupidity. I believe that ship has sailed.

3. Working on a package
to resolve their long standing impasse. Translation: Fold like a lawn chair.

Just when you think that they have started to grow a backbone they manage to crush your hopes like a dung beetle under the foot of an elephant.

Give me some candy money and I will fund your little war. That is what's being said here. The dems will fund this war because they are cowards by and large. There are a few, but very few that actually protect and defend the Constitution. The rest of them will be accomplices to this rogue regime in this illegal war and should therefore suffer the same consequences that bush and cheney should suffer. Since that is the case, you know that no one will suffer the consequences except the thousands of Americans that have already died and the thousands of Americans that are going to die for this little dipshit. That is not even counting the more than one million Iraqis that have died already and the untold number of Iraqis that are going to die.

The United States is rapidly becoming, or has become, unrecognizable as a democratic society. It is becoming a closed society very rapidly and will fall into a fascist state if "We The People" do not do something about it.

This administration has thrown all rules and laws out the window and will work very hard at turning it into a fascist state before the end of '08. They must do this in order for them to retain power. Bush as already made himself the little dictator through his more than 1000 signing statements. The latest gives him the power to break any law, make any law and inform the Department of Justice that he has created a new law and they must abide by that law.

WHERE THE FUCK IS CONGRESS???

4. NO BILLS PASSED IN CONGRESS IN 2007
I know, my work is affected by what Congress passes in spending measures. 2007 had NO spending bills passed. The good ole GOP did nothing AND bushie SAID NOTHING. The Dems could do nothing because they were the minority. The GOP did nothing to make the DEMS look bad when they took over Congress.
This is NOT the case of removing the W's from the keyboards that was trumpeted throughout the media when Bush took office. This is plain ole nasty pricks who don't give a damn about ts country and only want to line the precious pockets of themselves or their cronies.
Bush only wants to sign somethign that will allow his agenda to move forward. It's the fault of this country and the people who ACTUALLY voted for him into office. There were plenty of signs that he was and is an idiot, that the programs his put in place in Texas DID NOT WORK, that the people who put him into office were crooks themselves. BUT DID this country do their homework? Hel no. They are being placated with, SUrvivor and Dancing with the next door neighbor, or some other shit show that passes as entertainment nowadays.
WAKE UP AMERICA, it is already too late

5. Congress passed LOTS of stuff.... Roadblock Repubs filibustered
everything in sight.

But, Thanks to Harry, they were proforma filibusters... stealth filibusters... invisible filibusters..

They were filibusters without consequences to the perpetrators..

6. Get whacked in Iraq! Just call Georgie "Uncle Veto" Bu*h.
He'll get da job done and make it look like an accident by not letting the troops have the money Congress appropriates for them.

7. We must never again have a spoiled child as president
Edited on Sat Dec-08-07 09:04 PM by bluestateguy
Spoiled rich kids have an entitlement mentality, and that is dangerous in politics. We need someone in there who does not believe that he was chosen by God, someone who knows what it's like to have to worry about paying the bills, and someone who had to work their way up to get ahead in life.

When you have a spoiled child, trust fund brat as president, he demands that he get what he wants every single time, and never says thank you. Has he once said thank you to the Democrats when they handed him all of his war money, over and over again?

Now the Democrats capitulated (again) on more war money for Bush (I refuse to call it "funding our troops"), and now he's whining about what now?

8. Good. Go for it you draft dodging son of a bitch. Let him write his veto on his ass.
I could care less whether the moron vetoes a budget bill. Let him veto a hundred of them. Just keep sending the same f*cking bill to his desk and let him veto the SOB daily. Eventually he'll have to bring the troops home, and he'll be out of office.

Such a lame brained SOB we have for a leader. I have NEVER in my 60 years, heard such derogatory remarks and information about a leader of this country. We are in a state of shame...and it's all because of this corrupt son of a bitch. He belongs in a gulag someplace in Eastern Europe. I hope The Hague tries him and his blood sucking vp for war crimes before they rot from this earth.

There....I feel better having gotten that off my chest. <wink>

9. Good. Send him the exact thing back again. And so forth and so on and see who blinks first.
After a week, he ought to stop holding his breath. Offer him one dollar for the war.

Oh, wait, I forgot about our "pragmatic" Congress who love to be stepped on and the Repubicans who forget where in the federal government they are supposed to fit. Hint: it's the legislative side. That is the one with the big desk up front. It's attached to the rotunda. Surprised you can't pick it out. The white house is on Pennsylvania Ave.

10. The Democrats?! THOSE Democrats?!
HA! You KNOW they don't have the spine to do any such thing. (send the same bill back again and again).

As usual, they WON'T do what they SHOULD do. Somehow, bu$hit, Inc. has them all cowed.

11. I don't understand...
Congress is the entity in the U.S. government that passes budget bills, NOT the president. If the president wants his projects and the rest of the government to be funded he has to go through congress. Why they keep rolling over when they could use their obvious position to get concessions from the executive is beyond my understanding. The voters hate what the current administration is doing, and I think the negative opinion of congress is reflected by the fact that they refuse to reign in the president. A fight would work in their favor.

I just don't get it.
