Democrats: GOP must stop stonewalling
Source: AP

WASHINGTON - The Senate's second-ranking Democrat said Saturday it's time for Republicans to stop stonewalling and engage in "compromise and cooperation" to get the nation's business done.

"Sadly, Republicans in Washington are determined to make this a 'no-can-do' Congress," Sen. Dick Durbin of Illinois said in the Democrats' weekly radio address.

Durbin said GOP lawmakers are acting as if it is to their party's benefit to block progress on issues that are important to the American people.

"They think the less a Democratic-led Congress achieves, the better it's going to be for Republicans in next year's elections," he said. "But those elections are 11 months away! And America needs help now."

4. No, no. Mustn't use strong words.
Perhaps a murmur of dissent, or a gentle rebuke.

13. Perhaps a raised eyebrow or a disproving glace.
No, no, that will make Bill O'Reilly mad. They'll call them bad names.

5. doesn't even rise to the level..
of chatter anymore. More like a continuous drone. Perceptible only when concentrated attention is paid to a certain fixed frequency.

8. Congress has one year left to DO SOMETHING.
Perhaps we could focus on bills that require just a simple majority?

14. All Democratic bills now require 60 votes. It's in the new Imperial Constitution.
Which, since our nation is ruled by Imperial Fiat, resides in Bushler's head.

There are felonies lying everywhere, evidence lying everywhere. Felonies that were shamelessly performed and just as shamelessly denied.

Oh, not by "I didn't do it." Something much worse. Something like, "That felony you just saw? It's not a felony at all. So sit down and STFU before I get O'Reilly and Hannity and Totali Information Awareness to destroy you."

Lo and behold, our brave :puke: Democratic Leadership sits down and STFU on command, like a toy terrier.

This is not new. Not new at all.

16. Yeah, like the "National Hampster Month" bill!
Or, or...the bill re-naming every public building after Ronald Reagan. Even the Dems will vote for that! I'm sure we could get the "Lots of Pork for Each and Every Congressional District" bill passed with little objection. Then of course, there are always more pay raises to vote on.

Just shut the fuck up. I actually prefer that you remain silent then try to fool people that you're actually doing something with these pathetic threats.

11. It might help if each and every time a Democrat has a camera
pointed at them they mention not being able to pass legislation because Republicans block the vote and elaborate on what items have been blocked and which party is stopping the American people from having (fill in blank). Most people don't know how Congress works - especially the Senate and the 60 vote thing - and are easily led into thinking this is a "do nothing Congress." They need to be beaten on the head with the reason: Republican, Republican, Republican.

Four paragraph summaries on DU are great but clicking through to read effects where a story appears on Yahoo. We certainly want this one to appear as Most Popular, Highest Rated, Most E-mailed, etc.
