U.S. Keeps Military Program in Uzbekistan
The United States is continuing to its military relationship with Uzbekistan, including paying to disable nuclear weapons from the old Soviet arsenal, under President Bush's waiver of rules that required improvements in the country's human rights record.
Both the finding that Uzbek President Islam Karimov's government failed last year to meet rights criteria of the Nunn-Lugar disarmament program, and Bush's waiver on national security grounds, were effective Dec. 31, State Department spokesman Lou Fintor said Sunday.

Note: Uzbekistan is noted for boiling people alive. It is not known when the US regime plans to implement the practice against its own dissidents and Muslims decreed to be "too devout."

1. Is there any reason why
the US is militarizing the Central Asian region? I understand that Afghanistan is in the area, but Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan have been doing more business with the US recently. Georgia is allowing the US to build an oil pipeline where they are and Kazakistan turned down the offer to the US recently to build an air force base there.
