Rice Says Missile Plans Can Be Refined
Source: The Associated Press

BRUSSELS -- Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Thursday that U.S. plans to deploy a missile defense system in Eastern Europe could be refined to suit Russian concerns.

Her statement came a day after Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov accused the United States of backtracking. Rice and Lavrov will meet Friday at a NATO meeting in Brussels. Rice said that as details emerge of the U.S. plan, "perhaps there are things the Russians thought might be there that are not there."

Rice also said it would be "regrettable" if Russia decided not to return to the Treaty on Conventional Armed Forces in Europe. President Vladimir Putin last week signed a law suspending Russia's participation in the treaty, which would allow it to deploy more forces close to Western Europe. A Russian diplomat said Thursday that the forces would not expand their presence if NATO avoided a military buildup.

1. Rice is in Brussels?
I must have slept through the past week. Did I miss the part about her bringing peace to the Middle East? What happened to the Annapolis (sp?) summit?

3. Yep. She brought peace to the Middle East and then she went to Brussels for
some serous shoe-shopping, stating, "Shopping is the frailest stay we have in the war against Christmas!"

Antiwar Radio: Richard Cummings

Why did America invade Iraq?

Oil? Israel? …

Jets, bombs and taxed dollars.

So says Richard Cummings as he explains the story behind his Playboy.com article “Lockheed Stock and Two Smoking Barrels“: the direct role in policy-making played by Lockheed Martin and the rest of the Military Industrial Complex and the amount of money they loot from the U.S. Treasury.

7. Hilarious!
Rice thinks it's 'regrettable' than Russia's pulled out of the CFE agreement. I wonder: have we held to ANY of the treaties or agreements that we've made with Russia? Even ONE?

What this means is that Russia is starting to put pressure on the EU...

And, I'm guessing that the elections in Poland may have had an impact too.

8. Sounds like Rice is channeling Kruschev (sp?) and this is OUR equivalent
of the Cuban missle crisis.
