ConocoPhillips proposes natural gas pipeline from Alaska
Source: Associated Press

HOUSTON (AP) -- ConocoPhillips said Friday it plans to develop a multibillion-dollar pipeline that would transport natural gas from Alaska to the lower 48 states and Canada.

The oil exploration and production company said it's "prepared to make significant investments, without state matching funds, to advance this project."

ConocoPhillips spokesman Charlie Rowton said the company's best estimate for the entire project, including the pipeline from Alaska's North Slope to Chicago, is between $25 billion and $42 billion.

The pipeline would provide an important avenue for bringing Alaska's massive stores of natural gas to U.S. markets that rely on it for heating homes and other uses. It would move about 4 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day

6. Can you imagine the devastation that a pipeline through BC could cause to our...
environment? I don't think that the people of BC would go along with this at all, as you say we killed Sumas 2 and this could be headed in that same direction if pursued.

3. What I hate is that Arab oil producers just "flare off" their natural gas
You can see it on satellite images

5. Not just the Arabs...
They flare it off in Texas as well. Even during "gas shortages."

4. Democrats in Congress and in Alaska are one hundred percent behind this
Natural Gas is much better on the environment than regular gasoline and the USA needs to get away from dependence on foreign energy products..
