Boxer blocking former Rep. Rogan nomination to federal judiciary
Source: AP

Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer is blocking the nomination of former GOP Rep. James E. Rogan to the federal bench, citing his lead role in the impeachment of former President Bill Clinton as one of her concerns.

Her stance is angering Rogan allies who contend that Boxer is reneging on her support for a bipartisan commission set up in California that recommends judicial nominees to the White House. Boxer disputes that.

"U.S. Rep. Rogan was one of the most enthusiastic backers of impeachment — he thought President Clinton had committed high crimes and misdemeanors. The Senate certainly disagreed with that conclusion, as did Sen. Boxer," said Boxer's spokeswoman Natalie Ravitz.

Boxer also believes that Rogan's strongly conservative positions on gun control, abortion and other issues make him "out of step with California," Ravitz said.

1. If Boxer says so, I say so! I like "out of step with california". I think we should use
that phrase the next time we try to get the Party to censure Feinstein.

2. If only all the Dems could be as outspoken
as Sen. Boxer. It takes guts for her to be honest about her reasons for blocking this creep's nomination. She's risking the wrath of all the hypocrite repukes.

Good for her!

the candidate who opposed him when he ran for re-election and I don't live in CA. Rogan lost. That's why you haven't heard from him for a decade (if you live outside the State; I would guess his name still pops up within CA.)

He is a poisoned right wing zealot.

Sometimes, in watching the play acting and stage drama (that was the million dollar character assassination), a person could guess that some of the players thought certain tactics had gone over the line - not him. The impeachment madness that he drove would be all I would need if I lived there to agreee with Boxer and say NO ... NEVER.

Others in this country can do the right thing and not make stay away from an act of revenge. This is it. No revenge, just common sense and reality. This guy does not deserve one vote from Dems. He has only one side and NO balance.

His nomination is pay back for a job well done for 'Rovians'.

22. Nothing stopping a Senator being elected Speaker
:)

There are NO requirements for being Speaker, just that they're elected by the members of the House.

10. rogan's ineffectiveness saved clinton's ass!
how could so incompetent a prosecutor be fit to judge legal argument, the sine qua non of judgeship?

sadly, we (i live in the district) got shithead adam schiff to replace rogan. one incompetent replaces another. but then, i suppose, turds are preferable to diarrhea if one must deal with shit.

16. Interesting, two of the names came up today.
Hyde had stature in his physical appearance and acted like a child in the hearings. In the end, he was just another one of the Repub hypocrites. Sorry, may his soul find some peace.

Two in one day. And then we have the former Rep. Graham, now Senator from NC, who we hear from nearly every day. Woe on us.

Go Barbara - stand up and say NO to Rogan. I think he gave free lessons in how to be pompous.

How can you be the senior senator of the most populous state in the Union and not be a party leader? Her ineptude simply eludes me. Thank God for Boxer in Cali is all I have to say for our Western friends.

I believe I am starting to hear what sounds like voices of dissent among our elected officials.
Barb has always been upright and I hope it is catching with the rest of the mob.
