Huckabee's First Ad is 'Chuck Norris Approved'
Source: WaPo

Huckabee's First Ad is 'Chuck Norris Approved'
Mike Huckabee starts airing the first ad of his presidential campaign this week, and it co-stars one of his biggest (meanest?) supporters: Chuck Norris.

The star of the TV's "Walker, Texas Ranger" and movie classics like "Top Dog," "The Delta Force," and "Slaughter in San Francisco," among others, recently announced his support for Huckabee, saying the former governor is "The David among them."

The ad debuted this morning during an interview with Huckabee on "Fox News Sunday." The former governor said he hopes the ad will increase interest in his campaign, by convincing folks to visit his Web site to learn more. He also acknowledged the goofy nature of the ad is meant to remind Americans that a presidential campaign can also be fun.

The 60-second "Chuck Norris Approved" commercial show Huckabee and Norris going back and forth on various "facts" about the two men.

11. he forgot Invasion USA
i'm sure Huckabee enjoys watching THAT one again and again and again...and not for the anti-terrorist thing. Did you see Chuck's jean outfit in that movie. Talk about heterosexuality on steroids, huh!

He's a very sociopathic individual. The ad's pretty funny, though.

10. Why? Tell me about him. I only know that he raised taxes in AR.
and did some democratic things and talked about the increasing disparity in income. Tell me more. Send me a message if you have time. I certainly won't vote for him, but I was thinking he might be safer than rudy the testosterone king and rommney, the CEO class elitest.

13. He did raise taxes
and the RWers hate him for that. My biggest problem with Huckabee is he is a fundamentalist preacher who has a very fundamentalist social agenda - outlaw all abortions, don't even leave it up to the states. Very anti-gay in his policies, too.

He raised his hand during one of the debates when asked who didn't believe in evolution, then sort of backtracked on it when later asked about it.

He seems like a genuinely nice guy. He's funny, witty, personable and plays guitar in a rock band. But he is so far to the right on social issues he makes Giuliani look like Kuchinich in comparison.

I've always seen him as the dark horse in this race. All the rest of the Repug candidates come across as mean spirited and nasty. Not Huckabee. I could see lots of people who aren't really plugged into politics supporting him because on the surface he seems so much more human than what we've got now.

14. Thank you for responding. I only know about his Arkansas record,
but if there is any chance of him forcing his fundamentalism on us, that makes him really scarey. I can't stand those people because they try to cram their insane desire for religious insanity down our throats.
I fear that if a rePIG is elected, we will lose abortion rights and possibly even become a fascist dictatorship. We are already half there with that disgusting loser pig in the White house, who would have been a burger flipper or perhaps a floor manager at Wal Mart if his daddy had not bought his degree and bought everything for him and covered up his failures, and all he has is failures, except for the bloodless coup that happened on 2000.

Sorry for the rant.

31. So he wouldn't be too bad if he have such a fundy social agenda?
I never seen much of the guy myself... Anyways, I don't understand how someone can be a nice guy and also be anti-civil rights... Although I suppose it's pretty common for people to be anti-blah to everyone else, but be strangely hypocritical with those around them.

5. The only repuke Presidential bumper sticker
I've seen so far was one for Huckabee. It was on the back of a sports car being driven by a macho type guy. I do not at all get the appeal as Huckabee strikes me as a milquetoast, but whatever.

8. This was a brilliant move on Huckabee's part.
Getting a Chuck Norris endorsement is like honey for a huge number of internet savvy people. They will jump all over this. The man knows exactly how to play the field and who to go after. Older people may not get this endorsement but the younger crowd are going to love it.

If I was voting Republican, I would vote Huckabee because of this.

12. I can only imagine
what the reaction would be if Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton did a "George Clooney approved message." The RW is always trashing the Hollywood liberal types for being outspoken in their support of Democrats. Looks like they've got one of their own.

15. I can only imagine the reaction
If Hillary, Obama, or Edwards relased a serial killer from prison because of political pressure like Huckabee did! I wonder if Chuck Norris supports that, too?

Editor's note, Sept. 1, 2005: Wayne Dumond, convicted of rape in Arkansas and murder in Missouri, died of apparent natural causes in prison Tuesday.

The occasion prompts us to republish Murray Waas' prize-winning article for the Arkansas Times in 2002 about the extraordinary steps Gov. Mike Huckabee took to help win Dumond's freedom. He has since blamed others for Dumond's release to kill again, but his actions over many years demonstrated his support for Dumond and, ultimately, the instrumental role he played in the parole board's decision to free him.

Huckabee also has a diet book wherein he looks like Gregory House's cave-dwelling cousin

on edit: wait..."There's no chin behind Chuck Norris' beard, only another fist." Either Norris is related to Zaphod Beeblebrox, or he's huffing glue.

24. I like Huckabee, I don't care how right wing he is
People can have different views on issues, and knowing that whoever the GOP nominates, by and large, they'll have the same stance on issues as everyone else - you might as well hope you get someone in there who is a respectable human being.

I think Huckabee, more than anyone else in that field, is a respectable human being.

I'd love to see a Huckabee - Obama race.

26. Mr. Norris wants Bible classes in public schools (video)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=1pnFg0Sp2Xw

An ad speaking for "The National Council for Bible Curriculum in Public Schools" by Mr. and Mrs. Norris.

He advocates history and literature classes with the Bible as the textbook and claims that the founders of the United States "never intended for the Bible to be removed from public schools."

"Nature Boy" Ric Flair! http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2007/11/20/wrestler-ric-flair-supporting-mike-huckabee/

And this is not to mention another endorsement from Ted "PoopyPants" Nugent.

And people laughed at Steven Colbert...
