Australia: Mine collapse traps 27 Victorian workers

A gold mine has collapsed near Ballarat in Victoria, trapping 27 workers underground.

The workers are all accounted for and are not believed to be injured.

Emergency services are on the scene and a mine rescue response team has been organised, police said.

Senior Constable Leigh Wadeson from police media said the 27 workers, all male, were trapped one kilometre underground.

He said they were all in a safety chamber and had 30 hours of oxygen available.

SYDNEY, Nov 19 (Reuters) - All 27 miners who were
trapped underground after a gold mine collapsed in
Australia's southeastern state of Victoria have been
rescued, police said on Monday.

"All miners are out and brought to safety," said a
spokeswoman for Victoria's state police.
