Marchers surround Justice Department building
Source: CNN

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Thousands of demonstrators encircled Justice Department headquarters in the nation's capital on Friday to demand the government crack down harder on hate crimes.

Thousands gather Friday morning at Freedom Plaza in the nation's capital for a march to the Justice Department.

"We have so many people we surrounded the Justice Department and two blocks more," the Rev. Al Sharpton told CNN as the orderly crowd marched around the building where newly sworn-in Attorney General Michael Mukasey was working.

"This is a real outcry, a real outrage from people around this country," he said.

Marchers walked from Freedom Plaza to the Robert F. Kennedy Department of Justice Building, which they planned to circle seven times, in an apparent allusion to the biblical story of the fall of Jericho.

As they began to circle the building, only about 20 feet separated the front of the line of protesters -- marching eight abreast -- from the end.

4. When I saw the headline "Marchers Surround Justice Dept. Building" I thought, 'Justice at last.'
'A good show of support for the Constitution & against this fascist regime that is ripping it to shreds.'

But then, would CNN & the other major media be reporting about this protest if it were against the fascist regime?

5. Thousands march against race crimes in Washington
Source: Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Thousands of black Americans marched around the U.S. Justice Department on Friday to protest what they described as heavy-handed law enforcement and a reluctance to prosecute racially motivated crimes.

Chants of "no justice, no peace" and "fired up, can't take it no more" echoed off the monumental government buildings along Pennsylvania Avenue as an overwhelmingly black crowd of about 10,000 circled the department's Washington headquarters.

Civil rights leaders organized the march after a spate of incidents in which blacks have been harassed with nooses, a symbol of racist lynchings.

The frustration of African Americans has also been sparked by charges against six black teenagers in the small town of Jena, Louisiana stemming from a fight after white students hung nooses from a tree at the school.

this story is LBN. A similar story was moved just 1 day before. What is the difference?

Workers across the country fought back today against the ongoing assault on their rights by the Bush-appointed National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). In Washington, D.C., and more than 20 other cities, working men and women marched to and rallied at NLRB offices, saying until a pro-worker labor board is appointed, the agency should be “closed for renovations.”

And a big R!
