CBS seeks dismissal in $70M (Dan) Rather case
Source: UPI

NEW YORK, Nov. 16 Attorneys for CBS have asked a New York judge to dismiss a $70 million lawsuit brought against the network by veteran anchorman Dan Rather.

Lawyers responded Thursday to Rather's claim the company used him as a "scapegoat" for a controversial 2004 report about President George Bush's service in the Texas Air National Guard, the New York Daily News reported Friday.

The CBS legal team called Rather's claims "far-fetched" and asked the judge overseeing the case to reject them.

"We at CBS are mystified and saddened by the baseless and self-serving allegations and distortions of fact raised in his lawsuit," the company's lawyers maintained in the Manhattan Supreme Court filing.

4. good luck with that
of course, it will get strung out till Rather is dead, then it will go away.

CBS fucked him over; the documents were planted, by GOP operatives, but the information is accurate, & it would have cost * the election. we'd be out of iraq & reelecting Kerry by now.

it was blantant & obvious corporate collusion with the white house, and there's blood on CBS' hands.

7. "Mystified and saddened...". Poor babies! Ever notice how Bushites...
...when caught with their pants down, bring out the Kleenex. Mystified and saddened. Boo-hoo-hoo!

Suddenly they're family men with kids. And their filthy corruption, and hypocritical sex lives, and thefts of $10 billion from California, and treasonous outings of CIA agents, and "misplacement" of a billion dollars in Iraq, and extortion of Indian tribes, and all the rest, are just mistakes, somehow, committed with the best of patriotic intentions, and...boo-hoo-hoo...cry me a river!

Lord, it will be a relief to be rid of this cowardly, self-pitying crew! Even if we don't exactly get our country back. (It'll never be the same, I'm afraid--and we may have a lot more pain to come.) If only we could vote war profiteering corporation news monopolies off the island, as well. But maybe we can--once we restore transparent vote counting*, and send some real representatives of the people to Washington DC. We ARE a sovereign people, after all--even if our government doesn't think so--and corporations operate from our shores with our permission, via corporate charters, that can be pulled.

Think about that! And go, Dan!

Dan Rather's lawyers have to say about all this whining..

I saw a link on there that was kinda interesting about couric..

"People are very unforgiving and very resistant to change," the 50-year-old Couric said. "The biggest mistake we made is we tried new things." Like messing with the Coke recipe?

Especially when the change involves a cheerleader for bushits over an investigative reporter like Dan Rather.
