(Steny) Hoyer Says Candidates' Bickering Will `Hurt' Democrats in 2008
Source: Bloomberg

Nov. 16 (Bloomberg) -- House Democratic Leader Steny Hoyer said the acrimonious tone of recent Democratic presidential debates may hurt the party's prospects in 2008.

``I've been disappointed,'' Hoyer, 68, said in an interview on Bloomberg television's ``Political Capital with Al Hunt,'' scheduled to air tonight. ``I think it will hurt the party.''

He took particular exception to Illinois Senator Barack Obama's assertion in a Las Vegas debate yesterday that Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton hadn't given ``straight answers'' on ``a host of issues.'' Hoyer said that comment is ``likely to get used by Republicans'' in the general election.

Clinton, a New York Democrat, has come under increasing attack from her chief rivals for the Democratic nomination, Obama and former North Carolina Senator John Edwards, whom she accused last night of ``throwing mud.''

9. Or: Just shut up, be nice, and vote for Hillary
She's the annointed ONE. There is no stopping her. She married her way into power. So Lady McBeth of her, no?

2. Hoyer is a high-level Republican mole. He thinks Iraq was a good idea poorly executed.
He can kiss my ass.

13. Whether or not that's so- Kerry didn't help matters
Unlike Dean, he had major problems in simply standing up and giving a straightforward answer to very simple questions.

"Knowing what you know now...." was a defining moment in the campaign.

21. Probably from his supporters who hijacked his campaign for themselves...
...such that any attempts by him to define himself would get overwhelmed by the co-opters.

And I say this as an insider.

22. Oh, no it didn't!
That was from the Republicans. Kerry's campaign expenses (along with Gebhardt and Edwards) DID pay for the ad before the Iowa caucuses that compared Dean to Saddam Hussein. 'Member that one? I do. Then Kerry gets swiftboated by the SAME GOP that accused him of flip-flopping. Karma's a bitch.

6. Would someone please tell S. Hoyer, the Innefectual
Democrats in House and Senate will lose the election
if anything causes a loss. The Public is mad as h at
the Democratic Congress.

This is such a joke. He thinks they are throwing mud.

I find it interesting that the GOP go after Democrats
much worse and go after each other. Their Poll numbers
stay up.

Wake up Steny--America is tired of Wimps they want people
with spines. Being able to throw a puncn is an asset in these
times.

Never mind you the candidates--get your own house in order (if you'll pardon the expression) and do what you were voted in to do.

This from a guy that doesn't have the balls to proceed with
impeaching Chaney. Obviously he is more concerned with the
next election then actually getting anything done.

15. Come on, Stenny, by the time the ten-per-centers start paying attention,
the bickering will be between the HRC and RG.

A spirited debate, bickering, or whatever, is a good thing right now.
