Soldier dies after 12 hrs in Iraq
Jan 9 2004
Family tell of soldier's firing range tragedy

By Keith Mcleod

THE Scots soldier killed on a firing range in Iraq had been in the country less than 12 hours.
Weapons expert Andrew Craw, 21, died as he tried to fix a jammed machine gun on the training ground near Basra.
As she waited yesterday for her son's body to come home, Andrew's mother Ray, 43, told of his love for Army life.

1. A new record.
Speaking of records. The Iraq death toll is about to break 500.

3. If this guy doesn't know gun safety, he most likely would have been
killed on a firing range here in the USA.

Regrets to his family.

5. It's tragic that it happened
but his death apparently had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that he was in Iraq.
