42. That shows how you can make enemies at home
...when you kowtow to extremism and war.

Harkin said he was fooled by Bush about Iraq, and he is rewarding one of the very few politicians who didn't fall for the propaganda.

Do we want excuses from a leader, or responsibility?

Iowa Sen. Harkin to endorse Dean

MIKE GLOVER, Associated Press Writer Friday, January 9, 2004

(01-09) 10:34 PST DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) --

Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin will endorse Howard Dean for the Democratic
presidential nomination, party sources said Friday, giving a key
boost to an embattled front-runner 10 days before the state's
kick-off caucuses.

These sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said an
afternoon announcement was expected.

Harkin's support would give Dean the backing of the state's most
durable Democratic politician, and a man whose organization can
prove a vital asset on caucus night Jan 19.

Dean and his rivals for the nomination had all appealed to Harkin
for backing, and the senator had said publicly in recent days he
was weighing whether to choose sides, or perhaps remain neutral.

YIPEEEE!!!
This is so wonderful....they aint stoppin Howard NOW!!!
I have been on pins and needles every since Gore's announcement to see what Tom would do. I had a gut feeling and thought he liked Dean a lot just from his politics and events where I've seen them together. I feel the same excitement and agreement when Tom speaks as when Howard speaks because they are both so plain spoken and real and true-blue Americans.

36. While I was holding my support until a nominee is decided
I could go for Dean and with the big endorsements he's getting he may become unstoppable. Tom Harkin is one of the most respected democrats out there, IMHO. If Gore and Bradley and Harkin think Dean is OK, then he must be. All the Dean bashing has been back firing on Lieberman and the Republicans. Keep it up boys!
My father mentioned that Dean reminded him of Truman and I said maybe Howard will give them hell.
Give em hell Howard!

60. Is it PMS, or is it something else...
I am actually crying for joy and relief. What a catharsis! Dean is really going to be (as I've recently seen) the next President of a Better United States. Harkin's endorsement in Iowa is comparable to Oprah's endorsement of a new book. Millions will buy!

I believe he will really work for us. Not as a miracle worker, but doggedly and determinedly. The past few days, the "liberal" press has given me reason to believe that they might be able to obscure Howard's message, then I remembered what attracted me to the good doctor in the first place, a sense that he would fight.

He has the stomach to stand up not only against the corrupt adminstration but also against compromised democrats who have enriched themselves or secured their postions by going with the flow.

GIVE THEM HELL, HOWARD! We're behind you, on the phones and on the sidewalks.
