Secret photo of a cowering dictator
http://dailytelegraph.news.com.au/story.jsp?sectionid=1258&storyid=733336

"While the soldiers in the field may have loved the idea of showing Saddam au naturel, not everyone felt that way," Mr Weisman wrote on the website.

"In fact, Military.com received a call from an official asking them to remove the photo for national security reasons."

Security reasons, hmmmmmm

4. Isn't there something in the Geneva convention
(not that we seem to care about that anymore) about using photos of prisoners for propaganda purposes? Isn't this (and, for that matter, the footage of Saddam's dental exam) a violation?

11. Geneva Convention
Yes there is something in the GC about showing pictures of POW's. I'm not sure of the section or part but don't you remember Rumsfeld getting all upset when the Iraqis showed pictures of the American soldiers that were captured way back at the beginning of the (illegal) war? It seems that the Geneva Convention only applies when Rumsfeld says it applies.

5. He looks more like a "drugged Dictator"
or an "unconscious Dictator". It's a pretty tasteless picture - crowing over a defeated enemy isn't very edifying. At least not to me.

6. why haven't we seen other pictures from this "event"?
supposedly there was a camera crew, right? Where are the pics of Saddam with his hands up, saying "I want to negotiate"? What about a pic or two of him handcuffed and frog-marched?

How about ONE pic that proves he was even concious at the time?

7. They probably needed to do it to claim the bounty
Shouldn't this blur-faced boy be getting 25,000,000 greenbacks from the US government and another 1,000,000 from thespian Bruce Willis?

That could be why they don't want us to see it - it could mean that now, Bill O'Reilly will have to publicly harangue the both of them into paying up... just like he did with Clooney, the Red Cross and the 911 victims fund... right???

Tut-tut

PS: Could someone please explain why our taxpayer dollars were spent giving this guy a shave and a haircut -- and since then, all we see are the 'before' shots?

12. Yeah, this won't piss off any more Iraqi's
I'm sure that the Arab world will just LOVE to see that. They may have hated Saddam, but they hate the US even more, and this will just add fuel to the fire of anti-American sentiment. He may have been a cruel dictator, but he was an IRAQI, one of their own, whereas the US is viewed as an invader (far worse to many).

You'd think people would wise up after using stupid, anger-envoking phrases like "Mission Accomplished" and "Bring em on!". Guess not.

13. Oh, and the guy running that website must not have gotten the memo
"I'd like to see this photograph posted in every public building in the US so Americans can be reminded to thank the American soldiers who put their lives on the line every day to keep this nation safe and free."

Yeah, except we haven't found any WMD OR any links to terrorism to threaten the US. So, explain to me again how finding Saddam was helping to keep this nation safe?

14. yeah, keeping us safe, huh?
that's why the terra alert recently went up, after they said they've had more threats, chatter, etc, than they've had since 9/11. And the plans were all about 9/11-style attacks, totally unrelated to Iraq

AFTER Saddam was captured!

16. It is so sad
that we have to humiliate anyone like this. He is a helpless prisoner and our brave "defenders" post photos to mock him and the entire Arab world.
What have we become?

17. Bwaaahaaahaha
Our wonderful government didn't want that seen for the one playground principle which most of us adhere to...pick on someone your own size

That is the face of terrorism?

I'm sorry, but I don't for a second believe that man is the person who was the source of such threats that warranted DimS*n sacrificing the lives of hundreds of soldiers.
