Trial Promoted against ex President Aznar
Source: Prensa Latina

Madrid, Nov 11 (Prensa Latina) An initiative to try ex president of the Spanish Government Jose Maria Aznar for his role in the invasion of Iraq will be promoted through assemblies in several Spanish cities, it was announced here.

The idea is being promoted by a so-called Platform for a Trial against Aznar, which has been supported so far by over 1,500 important figures from Spain and abroad.

Organizers of this effort met in Madrid on Saturday and agreed to hold local assemblies to increase awareness on the need to try Aznar for his responsibility in the aggression of Iraq.

Dates for meetings in Madrid and Barcelona were set for November 17 and 30, respectively.

1. Thanks for the notice. It will be interesting to see what happens.
He didn't do his country any good by committing them to such a murderous, foolish misadventure on behalf of his bully friend in Washington.

clever siding up to the fascist bush when bush was riding high, thanks to the US corporatemediawhores.

And, then, the bottom fell out..guess ol anzar didn't know about bush's rep? As in..everything he touches turns to shite.

6. Chavez at it again !
On Saturday King Juan Carlos told Mr Chavez to "shut up" at a summit in Chile after the president said ex-Spain PM Jose Maria Aznar was a "fascist".

8. Welcome to DU!
I wonder if anyone here is taking notes on this.

For all we know, this may be the only way to bring bush/cheney to justice. At this point, I'm not sure we're going to get much satisfaction on that score from our reps.

As long as it happens SOMEHOW, SOME TIME.

I want them brought fully to justice. FULLY! And if he can't be IMPEACHED, maybe putting him on trial afterwards is the main option. Still hoping like crazy for IMPEACHMENT, though.

9. As we started seeing long ago, there were TONS of people in Spain who detested
Aznar's appetite for war. It wasn't a secret there, only here.

I assume it's correct in the original Spanish version.

15. Actually, they're called President...
President of the Government in fact, or Chief of Government... "Prime Minister" is rarely used in Spain.

14. People need to start collecting evidence.
I wonder if a transcript of any trial will be available.

Berlusconi needs to be tried as well. They are all connected at the roots.

16. "connected at the roots" like Scooter Libby's aspens?
Well, there ARE similarities, now that you mention it.
