TRENTON, N.J. - A review by a national Communications Workers of America finance administrator found no financial problems with the state worker union local run by Gov. Jon S. Corzine's former girlfriend, but the national union has hired an independent attorney to look into allegations against the local leader.
The review came as two CWA Local 1034 vice presidents asked national CWA leadership to take control of the local, alleging its president, Carla Katz, misused union funds.
The review of audits dating back to 2004 by John M. Walsh, a CWA account administrator, found no problems.
Walsh, in a letter to the CWA's national secretary-treasurer, wrote he had the "utmost confidence in the financial health of CWA Local 1034."
