2007 Yearly Tropical Cyclone Activity to Date ( 2007 lowest September activity on record since 1977
Source: COAPS - Center for Ocean-Atmospheric Prediction Studies

There are currently two worldwide tropical cyclones: Tropical Storm Noel and Unnamed Arabian Sea TS...

The North Atlantic hurricane season is currently nearly 30% below normal in terms of a well-known activity metric called ACE. While the number of named storms is above normal, their integrated intensity has not matched the hyper-active expectations of many seasonal forecasters (e.g. NOAA 140-200% above median). The Eastern Pacific off the western coast of Mexico is also experiencing record inactivity. http://www.cpc.noaa.gov/products/outlooks/hurricane.shtml

The predicted more than doubling of average hurricane/cyclone activity and intensity for this season has not come through. Instead, there has been the lowest activity in 30 years. Pre-season hurricane prediction remains largely informed guesswork, IMO.

2. If we don't have Hurricanes
We will have some other means to dissipate heat in the ocean. Watch for a mild winter in the N. Hemisphere followed by a cool early Spring with some wild weather in between.
