(Dana) Perino: It seems that Congress is run by Code Pink
Source: The Hill

The White House reacted harshly Wednesday after a protester at a House hearing got close enough to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to put her dyed hands in Rice’s face.

White House spokeswoman Dana Perino, referencing the incident and calling it “despicable,” said it “seems that, increasingly, Congress is being run by Code Pink.”

The anti-war group’s members are often arrested on Capitol Hill for disrupting congressional hearings and events.

However, few protests have been as dramatic as Wednesday’s, at which protester Desiree Anita Ali-Fairooz screamed at the secretary of State and yelled that the blood “of millions of Iraqis” is on the hands of the administration.

...

Perino thanked Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Tom Lantos (D-Calif.) for “trying to restore order to that hearing.”

47. No KIDDING!
If it were, we'd have been OUT of Iraq LONG ago, and Iran would only be a twinkle in a frustrated neo-CON's eye. And some of that war spending might even go to repairing our infrastructure HERE AT HOME, or - gasp - maybe underwriting health insurance for every kid in America - if not every PERSON in America, too. And there'd be about 39-hundred fewer flag-draped coffins coming home to sobbing widows, heartbroken moms, and distraught dads.

We could do a LOT worse than having Code Pink "run" Congress. In fact, we are doing a lot worse.

Code Pink frequently engages in civil disobedience. Shocking! How the fuck does that translate into Congress being run by Code Pink? Is it because of their impertinence in even questioning Queen Condi on how she's been doing her job?

Shit, at least Tony Snow knew how to do *his* job.

8. War criminals. The whole lot of them.

October 24, 2007

Protester Desiree Farooz confronts Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice in a photograph taken today by Charles Dharapak of the Associated Press.

Rice was preparing to testify before the House Foreign Affairs Committee when she encountered Farooz inside the hearing room. Farooz had painted her hands red, apparently to symbolize her group's claim that members of President Bush's cabinet have blood on their hands because of the way they've waged war in Iraq.

The WH's swift, harsh reaction:

34. I sense new fodder for our distinguished Mr. Pitt, et al
An extended "what if", a thought experiment run amok... "WHAT IF CONGRESS WERE RUN BY CODE PINK?"

I didn't know we were even allowed to imagine such things, after Ari Fliescher told us to watch what we say, watch what we think. Hell, just having someone like Medea Benjamin elected to Congress would have been a pretty wild fantasy even during the Clinton years.

Dana gets some points for a truly amazing and original hallucination, right there -- coming up with such a mindbender on the fly is no easy feat.

How about it, all you hard-core DU Pelosi supporters: don't you think Ms. Perino owes the Congress an apology for this ugly remark? Or should we Democrats continue to just "keep our powder dry," ignore yet another right-wing insult, and look forward to the next time Speaker Pelosi reduces a Democratic congressman to a pathetic, whimpering caricature?

56. ROFL! Bushies have the weakest, morally-detatched Congress in American History
(well, this one is marginally better than the 109th, but it is essentially the same people (80-90% similarity in personnel)

but they want the most compliant Congress in all of German History.

Who knows? Within a generation or less, they may get their wish, they are so close.

But these comments are so ludicrous and diametrically untrue from reality that the only thing more amazing (and yet boringly mundane) to watch is that these Goebbels-like BIG LIES work so well and so often on so many tens of millions of people so frequently...that like the Nazis before them the Busheis have literally rewritten reality in their own twisted image, and dragged a former Republic to ruin.

69. Am I the only one
who finds Perino more malicious than the three men who have "served" as Press Secretary? Somehow, it appears to me at least, that she is more smooth at lying than the three guys--she appears less ruffled, and just easier at making that gap between truth and the white house even wider. Come to think of it, that can be said of all the women in this foul administration--perhaps it was the era I grew up in, where women were the "earth mothers" and the bastions of good and wisdom--finding such collusion and corruption within my own gender is just revolting.
