Oprah Winfrey school at centre of probe into 'sexual misconduct'


Oprah Winfrey flew to South Africa at the weekend for crisis meetings over allegations of sexual misconduct at her exclusive girls’ school south of Johannesburg.

The visit, her second in less than ten days, followed an admission last week that serious claims of misconduct had been levelled against a matron at the multimillion-pound school for underprivileged girls, the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls.

John Samuel, the Chief Executive of the academy, said in a brief statement that the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) of the South African Police Service had been informed of the internal investigation.

2. This is really sad. Oprah was a victim of abuse and this must be

killing her. She wanted to help.

3. They'll straighten it out. She's still helping.

When good people with lots of money start a charity, sometimes these kinds of things happen because they didn't forsee a potential for abusing the kids in the school.

It could be worse-it could be like Escuela Caribe, or whatever that place is that I read about in Julia Scheers' book "Jesus Land".
