Huckabee: Rivals might consider suicide
Source: Associated Press

Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee joked Tuesday that other candidates might be considering suicide because their level of support doesn't match their fundraising.

The former Arkansas governor, exaggerating, said other GOP presidential hopefuls were raising $100 for every nickel he had raised. "If I were some of these guys, I'd have to be sitting in a warm tub of water with razor blades," Huckabee said in an interview on MSNBC.

The ratio is closer to $10 for every $1 raised by Huckabee.

A national suicide-prevention group later criticized Huckabee.

"When a leading presidential candidate uses suicide and specifically means to do it as a joke, it is grossly irresponsible and is a disgrace," the National Hopeline Network, which runs the 1-800-SUICIDE help line, said in a statement.

1. And Huckabee is the "nice" one.
Rudy probably wants to have the other candidates whacked, if you know what I mean.

2. Add that to his concentration camp joke, and his Michael Vick joke--the
guy is an absolutely tone-deaf dipshit. Hey Fuckabee, go try out your stupid jokes in Little Rock nightclubs and leave the rest of America alone, why don'tcha?

3. Not to worry National Hopeline Network, he is not a "leading presidential candidate"
though in a couple of months he may be.

4. Well, only if Rudy gets hit by a meteor, Mitt is caught with little boys, and Thompson
poops his pants onstage. Otherwise, no. He only raised one million dollars even after his big second-place "win" in the Iowa straw poll. The Repubs know an idiot when they see one--Chimpy showed them what one looks like.

11. They know what an idiot is...

and that's why they'll get behind one again. Hell, many conservatives love Thompson, even though the guy is such an obvious dolt.

Frankly, none of them strike as being especially smart. I watched the debates yesterday and had to wonder what kind of idiot could vote for any one of those lunatics?

5. On CNN.com the headline is "Prez candidate blasted for suicide joke"
I thought "Gotta be a Republican"

6. I heard that, and was aghast.
Wondered if anyone was going to report it. Good that it's been noticed.

wienerdoggie, what are the concentration camp and his Michael Vick jokes?

7. Here they are:
"A Republican in my state feels about as out-of-place as Michael Vick at the Westminster Dog Show," he joked." http://learfield.typepad.com/radioiowa/2007/08/huckabees-turn-.html

(Of course, his son David Huckabee was caught torturing and killing a dog--that's what makes that joke EXTRA funny!)

And:

"Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee drew criticism from a Jewish Democratic group yesterday for jokingly crediting his 100-pound weight loss to a stay in a concentration camp."

15. The Vick joke is not only not funny, it isn't even true
one entire CD (out of four) in NW Ark. (Wal-Mart country) is solidly Red. And the rest of the state, for whatever reason, felt comfortable electing Huckleberry twice (after, of course, he was Gerald Forded into the governorship after Whitewater). Meanwhile, the state has gone Red in the last five presidential races that did not have Bill Clinton on the ballot. So what's he talking about? :eyes:

8. Like Reagan
some filter in his brain that is supposed to stop him saying things like that just doesn't work.

Bush -- to give him a pin's worth of praise -- at least *tries* to say things that have the right sound...they just get tangled in the psychopathic brains waves and come out closer to what he really wants to say.

9. Huck is the one who worries me. He's articulate, comes across as
a nice guy, and (other than a few dumb jokes) looks to me to be the best of the Pub bunch. I admit, I'm a bit baffled that the RWers haven't thrown their support behind him already.

I think Rudy & Freddie are going to self destruct in the forseeable future, and Mittens just isn't catching on. Yep, Huck is the one to watch!

13. Even rethungs in Arkansas dislike him
... or so I've heard from some of my business clients out that way. Apparently he is seen as an empty suit, played a figure head as gov, and they don't think he is sincere in his rethug doctrine. Disengenous, and some say kind of weird when you meet him in person.

Why isn't the religious right wingers eating him up with a spoon. He checks all their boxes.

10. We can be fairly sure McCain won't go that route.
I mean, if the POW thing didn't do it, lack of money sure won't.

If Huckabee makes errant statements like this one in public, I shudder to think what he says (or does) off the record.

12. My family, like millions of others, suffered great loss through suicide. Some joke.
And the comment comes from a Baptist preacher, Mike Huckabee, no less. What a creep.

17. He is the only one who mentioned the 500 to 1 ratio of ceo to worker.
He is the only rePIG who might win that would not be an absolute disaster and a totalitarian. Rudy is dangerous, as dangerous as Cheney. He is authoritarian and bellicose an a warmonger.
