(Supreme Court) Review Doesn't Halt Texas Executions
Source: Associated Press

(09-25) 18:47 PDT Huntsville, Texas (AP) --

The nation's busiest death penalty state executed another inmate Tuesday night, undeterred by a Supreme Court review of whether the lethal injection method most states use is cruel and unusual.

Michael Richard, 49, was put to death for the 1986 shooting of Marguerite Lucille Dixon, a 53-year-old nurse and mother of seven. Richard had been released from his second prison term eight weeks before Dixon was raped and killed inside her home.

Asked if he'd like to make a final statement, Richard said, "I'd like my family to take care of each other. I love you, Angel. Let's ride." He was pronounced dead at 8:23 p.m.

Another execution, the 27th in Texas this year, remained scheduled for Thursday, and officials said Tuesday's announcement by the Supreme Court would not affect the state's execution docket.

"We will go forward with our interpretation of the law," Gov. Rick Perry said.

4. Searching the net for answers..
You know, a couple of months ago I was looking on the net for info about the Texas legalized murders and I stumbled upon urbanundergrounds.com. It's a pro death penalty Texas blog and what I saw/see/read still makes me nauseous sometimes. The PRO DP people actually celebrate the executions. For me (I'm from Amsterdam, The Netherlands) it's really hard to understand how this is possible in a civilized country.

Since then I learned about Law of Parties, (you should have seen the comments on Kenneth Foster when his sentence was commuted to life without parole), and I learned about the killing of at least one mentally ill convict.

'Funny' thing is, a guy with a nick 'no2liberals' pointed out this website (Democratic Underground) for making a point (forgot what, ha).

And it came just in time, 'cause I was really loosing faith - I'm so glad I've found DU - and I will continue to discuss my opinion (as a foreigner / alien / euroweenie or whatever they like to call me) with the republican Pro DP Texans on that blog.

Just to let them know...

Perhaps it's not possible (in a civilized country).
Perhaps we're not a civilized country?

10. @Tesha and @atreides1
Isn't the US a country then? ;-)

Oh, you mean the 'civilized' part...

Well, I thought I heard it (through the grapevines) from one of the best comedians ever, Mr. Richard Pryor..

But now you're telling me he probably was making a joke, right?

Good one!

Now, let's say at least the 'popular vote part' is civilized - that's a majority isn't it?!
