U.S. officials object to Israel's treatment of Arab-Americans

American officials have complained recently that Israeli immigration authorities harass American citizens of Arab origin at Israeli border crossings.

During meetings between senior State Department officials and their counterparts in Israel, the Americans said that in recent months there has been a troubling increase in the number of complaints by American citizens of Palestinian and Arab origin, regarding the treatment they receive at border crossings and airports in Israel.

The Americans complained about long delays, a suspicious attitude, and degrading security checks.

The State Department officials stressed that Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice was very perturbed by this issue and said they expected immediate improvement.

. . in this forum who justify the killing of Israeli civilians as a legitimate part of the "resistance" - why wouldn't the Israelis be very suspicious of Arab-Americans traveling through Israel to the occupied territories?

4. They kinda have to get thru Israel to get to Palestinian territory!

Not to mention that they are probably travelling to visit family.

Unfortunately, many families are divided: some in Europe, some in the Americas, some in Israel, some in PA, and others in Lebanon, etc. The beauty of the US and Canadian or EU passport is that these citizens can visit all of these areas freely, thus passing on supplies to their families.

7. Quite simply...

...because that's racial profiling. And seeing as not all, or indeed many, Arabic Israelis are violent, systematic harassment of them only serves to cause more anger in their communities, which - guess what - makes them not like the Israelis in power. So it's self-defeating, offensive, discriminatory, and straight-up disgusting.
