Home Where 3 Died Owned By GOP Strategist
Source: wesh.com

Authorities in Orange County are investigating the discovery of three dead bodies inside a home in east Orange County on Thursday, and they've called in the bomb squad to assist in the investigation.

The bodies were found at 2420 Hickory Oak Blvd. in the Hickory Cove subdivision, Orange County Sheriff's Office spokesman Jim Solomons said.

According to Solomons, police received a call from a woman from North Carolina saying to check on the well-being of a friend in the home.

When police arrived at the home, the deputies said they found a garage door open and discovered the bodies of three men, all in their mid-30s. One of the victims is ex-military.

-----

According to records from the Orange County Property Appraiser's Office, the home is owned by Rafael Gonzalez, who is known to be a prominent Republican party strategist. It is not known if Gonzalez is one of the victims.

6. Looks like it's near or around Orlando, Florida.
Edited on Thu Aug-23-07 05:12 PM by The Backlash Cometh
The crime rate has skyrocketed in Central Florida. Why here? I'm wondering if this dysfunctional community that surrounds me in my neighborhood is common for this area, in general? More about real estate, less about community.

8. Transient nature of the area combined with endemic corruption in
the "normal" social circles, you think? I swear to you, nobody would believe how crooked this area can get among the shaker and the movers. And the rest of us have to tip toe around them and pretend we don't notice.

19. Probably like seattle and wa state, the jail and prison funding was cut 5 years ago
Edited on Fri Aug-24-07 12:28 PM by superconnected
and you guys are not longer putting perps in jail for more than a few days.

Car and creditcard theives are likely running rampant in your city too.

State funding was cut on a national level back then by the bush adminstration and what you're seeing is the trickle down.

I was present when the seattle judges ruled that only violent criminals could be arrested (no longer shop lifters or other thieves) because seattle couldn't afford the jail expense ($80 per day per criminal). I was also present and working for the city court system, when they closed the seattle probation office due to lack of funding. Around the same time the state of oregon had to let inmates out of prision - specifically sex offenders because they had already let everyone else they could let go, go, due to lack of money to keep them in prison. It was the only way to keep the murders locked up and many of them were let go to. This was 2003. It's only gotten worse since then.

Ah, I personally set up the computer/camera system so that violent offenders could be sent from the seattle jail to the yakima jail because yakima was cheaper and the judges rulled that if inmates were transfered their familys had to be able to visit them via webcam.

The city of seattle has open financial books for public scrutiny. They really don't have the money for police, jails, librarys, parks etc. There has been many times in the last 20 years where each of these areas had key people working for free 1 day a week just to keep the resources open. I suspect they are that way now. It all comes down to funding. When federal funding gets cut all kinds of services get cut and the city has to divert money from those areas into other programs that are usually literally to keep people alive - what little police they can afford, fire department, have to have repairs, stoplights, etc. Pretty much all neighbor outreach proprograms were cut first - nearly all for the poor, elderly and disabled. You could certianly see a republican was in the presidents seat just by how funding was cut. You can really see now by how much crime is on the street.

21. Yet Orlando can find the money
for three new venues while we have approx 8000 homeless and only 2000 beds. I don't know what the state of the arrest vs jail time is here and you could be totally right. Priorities are so messed up.

4. Interesting
As a gay man, perhaps I am looking at facts that mean nothing but ... three guys in their mid-30's who do not appear to be married and two of the men live together ... the other man used to live in the house as well. Was this GOP strategist a part of the Log Cabin Republicans? Or perhaps just more gay republicans who support the party who would oppress them.

I will be interested to follow this story.

9. Well, I'd fit that profile easily...
...some of us 30-somethings just like to live with old college friends to save on rent and for lack of a good woman to shack up with. I know quite a few guys that do it just for the rent and actually hate their housemates, especially in the Si valley. It doesn't really bug me often that people sometimes assume we are gay, but occasionally I have to admit it does get under my skin.

10. "for lack of a good woman to shack up with"
1. harrumph!

2. Thinking back to my days as a young, free, single and upwardly mobile woman, my best house-mates were men I didn't shack up with. It was an unbelievably pleasant alternative to living with another woman or living with my lover, and second only to living alone. In fact, I was an idiot for not catching on to that earlier.

12. I get along with women fine as housemates...

...but I think they'd find my current housemate a bit offsetting, unfortunately. We have to find a new one, for tragic reasons, and these days pickings are slim from either gender. The old college web of trust has spread too thin.

(Heck I even managed to live with an ex for several months and still part on good terms. Different life goals, and all.)

16. Men May Have Been Dead Since Tuesday
ewwww!

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A woman's out-of-state phone call requesting a well-being check on a friend led Orange County sheriff's deputies to the bodies of three men in an apparent double murder-suicide.

The woman's phone call was received at about 9:13 a.m. Thursday and led deputies to 2420 Hickory Oak Blvd., according to sheriff's deputies.

When deputies arrived, the home's front door was open, and officers said they found the victims inside and signs of a struggle.

15. Also a link to Tom Feeney.
From the article, Home Where 3 Died Owned By GOP Strategist, August, 23, 2007:

The Gonzalez of the home is also listed as the office of the Strategum Group, a political firm represents clients including Representative Tom Feeney of Florida.

Not counting these deaths, there have been 44 homicides in Orange County in 2007.
