Sen. Leahy Lands Role in Batman Movie
Source: Associated Press

Holy Beltway, Batman! Sen. Patrick Leahy has a part in the next Batman movie.

"I don't wear tights," the Vermont Democrat said.

Leahy's scene was filmed this summer for "The Dark Knight" and involves Batman, played by Christian Bale, The Joker, played by Heath Ledger, and Alfred Pennyworth, played by Michael Caine.

The longtime Batman fan would reveal little about his role other than he is called the "distinguished gentleman."

Donating his money to a library. Leahy is great.

2. Did he have to conjure up a vision of him in tights?
Whether you're a fan of Sen. Leahy or not, there's no doubt that few if any want to see him in tights. Thank God that's not part of the movie. Maybe he will do the Batusi. That would be cool.

They're bringing back the Joker? Didn't Michael Keaton hook a gargoyle around Jack Nicholson's leg about 20 years ago and do him in?

12. Not bringing him "back" - these are prequels and not really part of the other movie's timeline

4. Wahington Was Never Batman's Beat
Nor any superhero's, that I recall. Except maybe Wonder Woman. It figures. It takes a woman....

It takes a woman all powdered and pink
To joyously clean out the drain in the sink
And it takes an angel with long golden lashes
And soft dresden fingers
For dumping the ashes

Cornelius, Barnaby, & 2 customers
Yes it takes a woman
A dainty woman
A sweetheart, a mistress, a wife
O yes it takes a woman
A fragile woman
To bring you the sweet things in life

Vandergelder
The frail young maiden who's constantly there
For washing and blueing and shoeing the mare
And it takes a female for setting the table
And weaving the Guernsey
And cleaning the stable

All
O yes it takes a woman
A dainty woman
A sweetheart, a mistress, a wife
O yes it takes a woman
A fragile woman
To bring you the sweet things in life
And so she'll work until infinity
Three cheers for femininity
Rah Rah Rah...Rah Rah Rah
F. E. M. - I. T. Y

Vandergelder
F. E. M. I. T. Y?
Get out of here!
And in the winter she'll shovel the ice
And lovingly set out the traps for the mice
She's a joy and treasure for practically speaking
To whom can you turn when the plumbing is leaking?

Vandergelder, Cornelius, & Barnaby
To That dainty woman
That fragile woman
That sweetheart, that mistress, that wife
O yes it takes a woman

Vandergelder
A husky woman
Vandergelder, Cornelius, & Barnaby
To bring you the sweet things in life!

All
O Yes it takes a woman
A dainty woman
A sweetheart, a mistress, a wife
O yes it takes a woman, a fragile woman
To bring you the sweet things in life.

8. more blurring of the line between politician and celebraty...
don't get me wrong, I like Leahy and understand his geek like attraction for batman, but his "cameo" does nothing but further the really bizarre trend in politics today of cebratizing politicians.

10. I still say they should have cast Mark Hamill as the Joker.
He did a wonderful job with the voice acting on the animated series, to the point that he's the definitive Joker in the minds of a generation of comics fans.
