Michigan primary moved to Janary 15
Source: MSNBC

According to sources inside both parties, the two state parties in Michigan have agreed to move the state's primary -- legislatively -- to Jan. 15. This is a compromise date out of respect for Democratic Sen. Carl Levin, who really wanted to move the primary to Jan. 8. Others wanted the primary on Jan. 22 as a way to, essentially, play ball with the other early states. There was a nice window being created for a Jan. 22, 2008 event. But by moving to Jan. 15, this will put pressure on the other early states to either entertain a December event or lobby the two national parties to not sanction Michigan at all.

1. Well, I think that this will be a good thing for progressives in our party.
Michigan is working class, blue collar, multi-cultural, mult-ethnic and is more representative of American than is Iowa, and to a less degree New Hampshire.

I like Michigan and Nevada being early up.

2. Is Michigan going to hold a primary? or a caucus like they did in 2004?
If the parties are holding the caucuses are they better prepared than they were in 2004?

3. Iowa and New Hampshire will respond by scheduling their primary the day after election day
That's the end game here, isn't it?

Let's have the Iowa straw poll the day after Super Tuesday, and the New Hampshire primary the day after Inauguration Day, and just get it over with.
