1. I never would have thought the collapse of our housing bubble would send worldwide shockwaves
It's after-effects are epic in size.

2. The money to finance the bubble
came from China and Japan.

4. And they want their money back...now! Also, remember the China threat about pulling
funding for US debt?

Perhaps these 'world financier's' will provide us with a way to end this 'neocon crusade' of war, war and more war.

The Soviet Union was busted over its excessive military expenditures, do not think the same isn't in the works for the USA.

3. Imagine if Countrywide Financial files for bankruptcy.

Just about everyone will be running for the doors at that point.

5. They won't. they just pulled $11 billion of their line of credit.
They're not going to be making any money for a long time, but they won't have to declare bankruptcy.

7. Don't be too sure.
I just checked their financials, and they're lookin b-a-d. They have assets, just slightly above their liabilities.

And that's right at this moment. We don't know what's going to happen next month, when 7 million home supposedly will go to foreclosure.

8. I'm sure. It;s not going to happen. They have a long way to go
before they have to face a bankruptcy disaster.

15. I'm more of an optomist that you. It takes a lot longer than that
for a Co. the financial size of Countrywide to totally fail.

Want to make a small bet?

32. I give them to late next week. See link.

11 billion is what Contrywide needs to run for about five days. The Western Savings of our shiny new Century. Check out what the boss is doing with his shares. He's cashing in like a slot machine.

10. Live simply!
As my grandfather always would tell me. If you don't, you are going to be in for a big old shock if we go in to a depression. Americans have always wanted it all, but you don't need all that, you only need what you need, and you could be surprised how easy and SIMPLE it can be. We Americans have overindulged for far too long and it was bound to catch up to us (Something else my grandfather believed, and he was a very smart man, and with only an eighth grade education.)

Just a suggestion.

14. Great advice!
I don't know how many stock market crashes I've lived through in my 62 years. I don't know because I never once even NOTICED when the stock market crashed. I live simply, and always have. Four months ago I bought an MP3 player. That was my big purchase for 2007. Not sure what I'll buy me for my 2008 big purchase. Maybe a set of tires for my paid-in-full old economy car.

the feds have put in 62 billion in the banks to hold up this disaster, europe had put in 352 billion and japan has put in over a 100 billion, yet it is still crumbling, this is a BIG deal. Live simple so others can simply live..

And they were just chatting about how well everything looked.

I guess that's the last time I tune in.

17. Question: Have Asian institutions and/or governments been intervening?
Or are they letting their markets work this out for themselves? I am aware of U.S. intervention through the Fed and I believe the Europeans have intervened.

This seems to be shaping up to be quite a bumpy ride.
