Bush Leads Aides on Sweaty Ranch Run
Source: Associated Press

CRAWFORD, Texas (AP) - The temperature topped 100, sweaty degrees at President Bush's ranch on Wednesday - a fine day for a three-mile run.

Forty White House staffers, members of the military and Secret Service gathered at a starting line and took off running. Their secret hope was to be inducted into the ``President's 100-degree Club.''

``You have to run for three miles. No walking. And then you get a T-shirt,'' White House deputy press secretary Dana Perino said about the event, which has become an August tradition at the ranch.

It was grueling. The runners poured water over their heads as they ran, each at their own pace. All 40 made it.

7. Boy...
Ain't nothing makes your dick seem bigger than it is, than watching someone in convulsions and cardiac arrest from heat stroke.

At my old Karate school, we used to have summer weekend workouts. We used to back it all down a bit during the really hot days, and we were fucking maniacs. I mean, like canceling the big run kind of backing it down. Making people throw up and fall over doesn't mean you are having a great workout. Just that people are throwing up and falling over.

Which is not an optimal conditioning regimen.

11. Hell, no, * didn't run. From the Guardian story:
Bush cheered them on at the halfway point and then rode in his pickup truck back to the finish line in time to shake hands with every runner and present each with a light blue T-shirt emblazoned with: ``The President's 100 Degree Club.''

100+ degrees (in November!), sweating like the proverbial pig, I see myself emerging victoriously from my polling station after doing my part to end the reign of terror of George W. Bush.

I will then eagerly tune in to the NEW Democratic President's Weekly Radio Address as he rolls up his sleeves, gets to work, and rebuilds out great nation.

MY SECRET HOPE, baby!

31. He DID not run all the way!!
the president gave the runners a pep talk at the starting point of the midafternoon run — two laps on a paved road that winds near a helicopter landing zone. "He told them not to push it too hard, but to give it their all," she said.

Bush cheered them on at the halfway point and then rode in his pickup truck back to the finish line in time to shake hands with every runner and present each with a light blue T-shirt emblazoned with: "The President's 100 Degree Club."

Bush traded in his running shoes for mountain bikes several years ago after pain in his knees kept him from jogging. At 61, he is a devoted mountain bike rider, regularly leaving the White House for rides on Saturday mornings or after church on Sundays.

Besides, he had already gotten his exercise for the day.

After his morning briefings, he cut down a few trees and took a spin on his bicycle. Earlier in the week, he worked outside building mountain bike trails.

"I would expect that there would be some brush cutting to do," Perino said. "I don't know how many people are going to be able to stand it. The president, obviously, likes the heat, so maybe everyone else is just going to have to suffer through it."

Edited on Thu Aug-16-07 02:19 PM by peaches2003
Where the hell was the WH doctor who travels with Bush. He should have stepped in and stopped this idiocy. This is abuse of the employess by the boss like in any other workplace. Oh sure, they could have said no, but everyone knows what happens when an employee chooses not to do what amuses his employer. They ALL should have refused and left him standing there alone. Bush is on a childish power trip and somebody should have stepped in and stopped it. Bush is not only a fool, but an egomaniac. How the hell does Laura stay married to this creep?

I read this story in the paper today. Something is seriously wrong with this man. And I say this as a sorority alumna who was not hazed and would have walked away had anyone even tried to haze me. My father is extremely anti-establishment, so that was my youthful rebellion.
