Elizabeth Edwards assails Obama, Clinton
Source: Associated Press Writer

NEW YORK - Elizabeth Edwards, wife of Democratic candidate John Edwards, lambastes his rival Barack Obama as "holier than thou" on the Iraq war and accuses Hillary Rodham Clinton of failing to show leadership on health care and Iraq.

As her husband trails Clinton and Obama in national polls, Elizabeth Edwards has been an outspoken critic of his opponents. Last month, she said her husband would be a better champion for women as president than Clinton and more recently said, "We can't make John black, we can't make him a woman. Those things get you a lot of press, worth a certain amount of fundraising dollars."

In an interview published in the August issue of The Progressive magazine, Elizabeth Edwards complained about Obama, who opposed the war when he was a state legislator in Illinois and later as a Senate candidate but has since voted for funds for the military.

16. For sure that wasn't want Elizabeth said.
She is upset as I am at some of the media leaving her husband out, until they find something to bash him over.

10. works for me
I've no problem with the 3 of them throwing mud at each other. Will only make Kucinich look all the more appealing.

14. Kucinich has my vote at this time, but this shit slinging hurts us all.
By the way, two of my dearest friends, both moderately liberal Democrats, tell me they are voting for Dennis in the primary because of what he stands for. That was some good news I got this weekend.

I hope that Obama, Clinton and Edwards will get back to what they are running for, what they will do and stop with the attacks already.

In the meantime, Kucinich just needs to stay on message. I can't help but believe that he should be doing better in the polling.

20. come back to reality
they can fling shit until the cows come home and Kucinich won't get the nomination. Why not support a candidate who can win the nom and win the GE?

12. She's right
It is necessary for Edwards to differentiate himself...and this does that. It might not be the best way to do it, but it is working.

Bush was elected 'cause he's a "buddy".
Clinton should be elected 'cause she's a woman?
Obama should be elected 'cause he's black?

Elect someone 'cause they can change the way things are working!
Obama and Clinton seem like just the same-old same-old to me...corporate lackies.

That said, once the primaries are over I'm voting for a Dem...not matter what. But if Clinton or Obama is elected I'll be surprised if anything changes...and trust me I want to be surprised!

17. that is the only way to get media coverage, big business is after him
CNN Blitzer for months wouldn't give him air in a jug, unless it was something negative he could report.

I bet that was a tense dinner meal at the Edwards house that night!

You know that John was shaking his head with disbelief after that comment.

19. I truly admire Elizabeth Edwards, but this is not the way to get good
press. I like that she speaks her mind, but the GOPers are her enemies. Call Romney et al out and the press will follow.

22. LOL!
I like John and Elizabeth Edwards. I understand why she feels the need to do this (the media is virtually ignoring his campaign), in some ways I even agree with her. All the same, I wish she wouldn't. I wish she would remain dignified, classy and positive.

If she absolutely must go on the attack, she should save it for Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani, etc.
