Obama's camp reassures supporters
Source: Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democrat Barack Obama's presidential campaign sought on Monday to assure his supporters he is a potent force and that national polls showing a big lead for Hillary Clinton are of little consequence at this stage.

Obama's campaign manager, David Plouffe, said in a memo to supporters that Obama, an Illinois senator, is doing fine in early-voting states such as Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.

A number of national polls in the last week or so have given Clinton, a New York senator, a large lead across the country. A Newsweek poll put her lead in the Democratic primary race at 23 points, up from 16 points in June.

"As the Washington insiders focus on irrelevant and wildly inconsistent national polls, there are strong signs in Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina of the growing power and potential of this candidacy," Plouffe wrote.

1. "wildly inconsistent national poll" WTF is he talking about?
Polling has been stable for nearly 3 months now with Hillary in mid to high 30's, Obama in the mid 20;s and Edward in the mid teens.

4. I agree that national polls are not so important at this time.
Look at the national polls for Kerry before Iowa!

As it stands, we have a three way race for Iowa, NH and SC. Either of the top three could win...as could Gore if he decides to run. The winner of the early races will gain national poll strength.

Heck, nationally people are getting ready for school and their mind is more focused on Who The Hell Thinks THey Can Dance than on the election. MOst won't even notice until after Iowa.

Gore 08. Clark 08. Gore/Clark 08. Watch the polls change if either enters the race!

6. Everything is going to change by the time of the Iowa caucus
It's way too early to be calling the race for Clinton.

7. Polls!
"Polls" are another tool of our corporate masters to manage the news and steer the political "debate"/discussion. It is amazing how many voters go to vote and want their vote to "count" so they vote for the supposed "leading" candidate, according to the non-credible MSM.

These polls are completely bogus, the results pulled out of thin air to reflect the will of our corporate overlords.

They are created for the all of the sheep among us so that they will know what to think and how to vote, little more!

8. Plouffe's a good campaign guy, but...
I totally disagree that national polls aren't important.

Here's the dirty little secret about being the frontrunner in a presidential campaign. They usually win!

What is clear is that as people begin to look seriously at this election as we get closer to the fall and the beginning of the primaries, support for Hillary is beginning to consolidate. Obama and Edwards are certainly there should something happen to knock Hillary off pace, but at this point its her race to lose, and national polls are useful as far as helping to establish her in the mind of the broader national audience, not just the Democratic primary voters, as the next President. I want all of you guys to remember 2000, and how these national polls established Bush I's son as the inevitable next President, which is an air of inevitability which he rode right into the White House (admittedly through a stolen election, but kids, get over it. How in the hell was it even close enough for them to steal!!!!)

I worry every time I see numbers that say 45+% of people would never vote for Hillary, my main focus on seeing a Democrat taking the oath of office in January 2009 more than anything. I really think a lot of people are just having a hard time imagining a woman in that job, and these national polls that show her with a big lead can be a useful tool in helping to bring them around.

9. I take it back, main stream media financed polls...

Are crucial for generating fake momentum to legitimize the campaigns of the corporate anointed puppets like Reagan, the Bushes and some "Democrats" (fill in the blanks here) who are actually Republicans in every way and in everything but their stated political party affiliation. They are relying on these private, non audited "polls" to suppress those potential nominees who are not corporate anointed. Don't believe me? Then believe them, they wouldn't lie to you would they? Or would they...

One way to recognize who the corporate whores are is to notice which candidates don't want to completely eliminate the health insurance industry from health care decisions and delivery.

Which candidates are willing to be complacent, compliant and complicit while capitulating to our "war president". Any of the candidates who voted to fund this illegal, aggressive invasion, occupation and exploitation of Iraq is definitely a corporate shill no matter what their political party.

I am sure that many of you can find other sure signs to help you make your own decisions about who among the different candidates for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination are going to represent us the people, and who is going to represent their "investors".

Do you care?

Do you feel sometimes that you are getting screwed by those whom you trusted to represent you?

Like right now?
