France confirms Libya arms deal
Source: Agencies

Libya has signed a major arms deal with a European aerospace and defence firm just days after the French president helped negotiate the release of six medics jailed in the country.

The opposition has demanded a parliamentary inquiry into the deal.
"If there was no exchange ... why sign a military agreement with the Gaddafi regime, which has been responsible for terrorist acts, which has been a rogue state?" Francois Hollande, Socialist Party leader, said.
Nicolas Sarkozy travelled to Tripoli to sign a nuclear and military co-operation agreement the day after five Bulgarian nurses and a Palestinian doctor sentenced to life imprisonment on charges of infecting hundreds of children with HIV were sent home.

I wonder what terrorist acts the Libyans will undertake next with all the money and equipment they get now. They blow up airliners and discotheques, have a worldwide network of terrorist groups they support, they manage to get half a billion dollars as ransom for the nurses they kidnapped and now Sarkozy and Bush sell them very advanced military equipment. Terrorist groups worldwide will rejoice, won't they?

with peak oil here...and Libya an oilproducer,I understand why they also sold the Libyans a nuke plant to get fresh water from the sea.

Actually,
it's only about putting French citizens back to work with these 'make work' policies of Sarkozy. Why should the other major arm producing countries get all the work ?
