BAGHDAD - Four American soldiers were killed during combat in Baghdad, including three in a single roadside bombing, the U.S. military said Friday.

Three soldiers were killed and 11 wounded Thursday when a bomb exploded near their combat patrol in eastern Baghdad, the military said in a statement. Four of the wounded were treated and returned to duty, it said.

Another soldier was killed and three wounded the same day during combat operations in a western section of the capital, an earlier statement said. The military did not release details of the incident.

2. Commander in Iraq: IED Deaths Are Way Down
http://www.wwnytv.net/72k/new-full-story.asp?uid=14803&area=home+page

The commander of the 10th Mountain Division's 2nd Brigade Combat Team said Tuesday that violence is down dramatically in Iraq.

Colonel Michael Kershaw spoke to local reporters at Fort Drum via video teleconference from Baghdad.

He said there used to be between 50 and 60 improvised explosive device attacks each week.

Now there are 20 or less IED attacks per week.

"Our IED rate has gone almost flat. We really had about 250 IED events a month here in this sector. It was one of the most lethal sectors in Iraq," said Kershaw.

<snip>

:grr: Tell that to the 80 soldiers that have been blown to bits in the past month. Tell that to their families and friends. Tell that to the almost 7,000 Iraqis killed or wounded in the past month. Shit, it like god damned Disney World over there now, isn't it! :grr: Save your breath you freaking assshat. No one is buying what you're selling.

5. How many wounded in this war so far?
We often hear reports of those killed but I rarely hear the media reports on the wounded, many of whom will carry lifelong disabilities.

8. .....the pile grows higher & higher
Our bridges are falling down, our young men are dying in a land where the bong trees grow, our national treasure is gone and yet nothing changes. Why?

Grass Bush

Pile the bodies high in Austerlitz and Waterloo Iraq
Shovel them under and let me work--
I am the grass; bush; I cover all.

And pile them high in Gettyburg Baghdad
And pile them high in Ypres and Vedum Mossoul and Al Fallaujah

Two years, ten years, and passengers ask the conductor:
What place is this?

I am the grass bush.
Let me work.

10. At least they waited until August
so the commander could continue to wave the July casualty report as good news.
