Christian Group President Facing Prostitution Charges

SALISBURY, N.C. — Former state legislator Coy C. Privette, a Cabarrus County commissioner and retired Baptist minister, was charged Thursday with soliciting prostitution, authorities said.

Privette, 74, of Kannapolis, was charged with six counts of misdemeanor aiding and abetting prostitution by renting a hotel room and paying for sexual acts, according to State Bureau of Investigation Agent Kevin Canty. Tiffany Denise Summers, 32, of Salisbury, was charged with six counts of prostitution, Canty said.

Privette also serves as the president of the Christian Action League of North Carolina, which advocates in the General Assembly for Christian groups. Privette has been one of the state's most vocal opponents against alcohol sales and legal gambling.

"We raised her children from birth. She's stayed here, but she doesn't live here," he said.

Actually I have a problem with that point.

It seems that most of Today's Xtians™ go out and sin knowing that they've got a pardon in their back pocket. Moreover, if they say they've been forgiven, we're simply supposed to take them at their word and, indeed, there's something wrong with us if we don't unconditionally forgive them too.

If we're Christian, we're supposed to park our ruined trust outside the door.

Now, I know that people are people, and we all have unhealthy urges that we do battle with our entire lives. I, as a human being, expect that this fellow probably lurves him some sex so often that he feels he has to buy some on the side. But even if he's compelled to do so, it's a choice. It's not a chemical addiction; he can always say no.

I don't expect people preaching to me about the dangers of unholy, unconsecrated sex not to want to do it too. I expect such people, however, to do what they have to to say 'no'. If they can't refuse that temptation, and then excuse themselves via God's "forgiveness", they may get "forgiveness" from me; but I do not forget the damage to my trust they do...which is permanent.

It's because of people like this that my faith is very nearly gone. it wasn't the non-Xtians who destroyed it–it's the ones who followed Christ that are damaging it beyond repair.
